I REALLY like that idea. You may be on to something, but I am sure one window would cost more than the entire value of the car itself.

I have thought about this at some length, but for the headlight and taillight covers, so that they would not interfere with headlight operation at night, and therefore would not need to be removed.

Ha that a possibly expencive window. Anyone know how much those glasses are? I would say the (price of the glasses - 50% X the total square inches of the window Devided by two = the price of the window shadeing + how much the window is worth + labor +shipping and handling = your price)

>someone help me out how much are those shades?

add about 125 to the total cost of the lenses. so for mine, my lenses were a little under 200 for both and then add the 125 for the transition.

sure it's a cool idea, but your glasses don't go to limo tint, they go about as dark as 35%.......if you can't see out that at night you need glasses as most will tell you 35% is fairly easy to see through!

they do make tint that does this to a degree, i have it on my car.....it goes from 5% to supposedly 20% i barely notice the change, but i can see out of the car no problem.

But if you used that for light covers, especially headlights, wouldn't it darken when you turned them on and defeat the purpose? Just wondering.

Actually, have you ever seen those rear view mirrors that automatically darken at night so you don't get blinded? Someone told me there is a place that makes windows out of the same stuff. Might be something to look into.

that's all a gimik of sorts it's typically a coating or a color tint depending on power or application that causes the glare to disappear........it doesn't darken in anyway like transition lenses.

My glasses only darken in direct sunlight; artifical light has no effect. I think that they only react to ultravilot radiation, but I am not sure. I AM sure, however, that they do not react to artifical light, such as indoor lighting, flashlights, and headlights.

Just to point this out, there are auto tinting windows. They are used in some sky scrapers. They have small thin sized wires running through them that cuase the window to darken when charged with electrity. You can get them for your home or car, I saw this on Discovery a while back and when I had a business meeting in NY I was on the 29th floor of a office that had these windows. forget what its called. Might wanna do a search

I've thought about that a lot too. If they could be made cheaply, and not be subject to the wavelength of light emitted from headlights or halogen headlights, I think you would have a huge winner on your hands!

Especially cool would be front and rear covers that matched your car's paint colour. That would make your Camaro look seamless from front to rear. At least the dark brown covers you typically see would look that way on my flame red metallic Sport Coupe
