time to replace the motors

i have the infamous intermittent window problem, wanted to get your guys experiences, should i stay away from aftermarket motors? or go with direct gm motors.....also ya think my mechanic can handle the job wihtout screwing up my window tint? should i stick with the dealer for the repair? im sure theyll rape me........i think around 300 should be a fair price huh? id do it myself but it seems like a big can of worms with the special rivets and spring loaded mechanism............i read the tech article i think id rather have somone else do the work .............lemme know and thanx

if you know how to remove the interior door panel, changing the brushes is not difficult and often fixes older well used motors.

ty 2v, ive been looking thru those posts and looking at the pics of the regulators while readin power windows 101............why dont i see any holes in the regulators from the 4 rivets that held em to the doors? leaning towards doing it myself now...motors are 50 bucks a piece plus that rivet tool is like 20 with shipping, sounds alot cheaper even if i chew up my arms..........aci or siemens......which is a better motor or are they about the same?

don rivet them again or they will come loose unless you use HUGE rivets! Just use self tapping screws next to the origonal hole. Holds much better and you wont be doing again in 2 weeks!
