crashed my car, couple ???s about whehter or not it can be repaired.
I got into an accident a couple of weeks ago and was hit in the passnegers side door. Right in the door jamb.I was wondering if that area could be fixed. Does a new quarter panel come with that little door jamb area, i don't know exactly what it is called but it has that little metal piece that the door latches on to. Anyway there are quite a few broken pieces: Passenger side door is done(classic industries wants 1000bucks for a new gm one, think i'll go to the junk yard), broken control arm where it meets the rear end, mount for the panhard bar is bent to crap, mount for the driver side control arm is a little bent, that little piece on the rear that the spring sits on is bent, and the rocker panel is bent some but don't know how much because have never seen it when it was straight. other than that car is pretty good, t tops are still ligned up front and rear glass are NOT broken, the rear end looks fine. anyone think all this can be repaired. Thanks for any help with my questions.
Well it sounds like it's not that bad. If it wasn't bad enough to crack your windshield I would be willing to bet that a body shop can throw your car on a frame straitener and pull out that panel. It is a direct part of the chassis and short of cutting and welding from a donor car I would suggest this. Swing it by a body shop and see what they say. Whos fault is it? Sounds like you were hit by someone else? If so insurance would cover it.
Unfortunately it was my fault. it' kinda hard to describe but, it pretty much comes down to i turned in front of her. And i only had liability insurance because here in nj you get raped repeatedly by insurance companies, i was paying 1500 a year just for liability. So i am just going to let the car sit for a while until i get some money together, car means to much to me, can't let him go. I was just hoping that there is some hope left, I want the car back on the road but don't want to hear funny noises when driving down the road, and i expect to make it a lean, mean, performing machine. I know the frame has to be straight for that.
Don't get me wrong... I don't really think the frame is tweaked(got pics?) When I said the straitener is because they are going to need to strap the car down and need something solid enough to pull it back out. At the same time I would suggest having em check it for straitness just in case. That machine is the only way to get the pulling force to pull it out. Just my thoughts....
Hey brig i sent you a pm but i don't know if you got it yet or not. if not i was wondering if you had any more pictures of your car because only one showed up in the post and it looks like the after picture. I'd appreciate it if you could post the before pictures or email them to me or something. Every little bit helps. Thanks a lot.
