I have some American GT Grand Turbo tires on the rear of my car. The only problem is, I can't find them anywhere but Salina, KS, which is bout 2 hours away. Nobody in my area has ever seen or heard of the brand. Can any of you help? I need 2 for sure, mabye a new set by the time I find them. The guy said they were rather expensive, at bout $150 a piece. Any info is great.

 

I am not trying to be the bringer of bad news but there is no way those tires are $150 a piece. they are probably50-70 $ a piece. If i was you i'd look into a different brand of tires.

The tire is made by Michelin and sold under the "American" tire brand name. Shouldn't be too hard to find a local retailer who carries the American brand tires, or else you can probably order them online and have them shipped to your home.

 

You could go pretty much anywhere and buy a cheaper Z-rated tire for less than $150. I just bought some Ultra Z's from Pepboys, nothing special but they get the job done and they look good, plus they were only $100 each, luckily I have access to mounting equipment otherwise it would have cost about $150 per wheel to mount and balance with the tire.

sweet christ, you joking? cost me 75 bucks to get all 4 275/40 17s put on, and they did it in about 20 minutes while i waited.

 

Ultra Z tires are nice tires if you want to save a buck and don't care about the horrible dry traction and downright dangerous wet traction, but for hardly any more money you can buy something like a kuhmo that will actually stick to the road.

 

yeah just picked up a couple of kumho ecsta for 188 total installed for the pair

 

dude i have those tires........ Im in Ohio i paid $389 installed and aligned. Just a heads up they're trying to get you for some money. They're traction isn't great, but the sidewall being as tall as it is doesn't flex very much when inflated properly. They lasted me about 15000 miles but that was with a 5 speed plenty of torque and an alignment that went bad and didnt realize it. Both wheels were leaning in. I still have them on my project car just to let the car roll around. also mine were 215/65/15's

 

Yall sure are paying high prices for mount & balance

I buy my tires (yoko avids s/t) online at tirerack then take em to the local good tire shop.

$10 a wheel for mount & balance. But they do other stuff for that $10 a wheel too

take old tire off, wire wheel clean wheel sealing bead, put in new valve stems, mount tire, and high speed computer balance wheel/tire, and they keep old tire.

 

best price i could find in the area was $16 a wheel mount and balance

you $389 for 4 AND a front end alignment. PLUS they were smaller tires...215/65/15 as opposed to my 245/50/16

in NJ we have a tire tax for each tire its either 2 or 4$ i forget they started that last year

I bought my kumho escta 712's for around 120 a piece and they look good and perform great. They do good dry or wet.

 

I forgot to say also that this was 5 years ago..... And yes deadbird that's what i was replying to..

 

Check out a BF Goodrich Radial TA, good looking tire, reasonable price, right size white letters, wear decent, ride nice, plenty of traction and performance for the 2.8 or most V8s. Had several sets and no problems. Just a suggestion.
