glo-flame gauges for our cars!
glo-flame gauges for our cars!
hey guys i just sent an email to Nu Image, which is a company that makes custom glo flame gauges for custom trucks. here is what i wrote in my letter
If you guys want to help me rally these guys up to make them, go to www.nuimage1.com and click on the button that says "not listed?" on the left side of the page. these things look freakin cool!
i just wanted to say that i love your products on all the trucks i see, and i like to mix up all different styles while customizing a vehicle, whether it be car or truck. I know plenty of people who would jump at the chance to purchase glo flame gauge faces for their third generation(1982-92)firebirds and camaros. another recomendation i have is perhaps smaller faces for aftermarket a pillar gauge pods, etc. i love the look in my buddy's truck, and lots of us want them in our hot rods too! thanks for your time- Gordy (pmpnthebuick@aol.com)

I think it would be cool to have the flames on black background ones... especially if they are easy to install and light up like it looks on the site!! :hail:

Man... I've wanted to do that for months. I'm not real handy in photoshop but I've been trying the last 2-3 days, I just can never get anything to come out good at all. I've been trying to do blue flames on white face gauges. I have a blue flame .bmp file and all Mikey's templates. I'm just a total nOOb to photoshop and nobodys ever showed me anything... I'm just trying to figure it out as I go.
I flipped this to vertical... and have been trying to layer it over the templates but haven't had much luck. Anyone else up to giving it a shot?

Cool man. Hey at least I'm TRYING instead of just dreaming like I used to. I miss PSP though... that was a lot easier to use though its not quite as advanced. I need to find a new copy. (BTW don't post a link to it they don't like it when you post links or promote pirating software on the board so don't anybody do it, they'll probably lock the thread)
Thats a hellava lot better looking than anything I made! I'm still not 100% sure of the look i want but thats pretty close. I'm gonna see if i can find some other flame patterns to play around with too. Its a good project for times when you don't have a whole lot to do.
Man... this photoshop stuff takes forever to figure out, and this is pretty basic stuff! I did this one tonight... its by far the best I've come up with so far. Its kinda funny how it happened.... A freind of mine brought over a CD by the band Slick Shoes... and the CD had these cool blue flames on it. I was like Dude! Thats exactly what I need! So, no joke, I threw the CD upside down on the scanner, scanned it, and spent about an hour messing around with stuff. I ended up creating a new layer, doing the rubber stamp thing, and messing with the transparancey and lighting to get this cool glowing ghost flame. This is definately the coolest chop i've ever done! (Which proves how little I've ever successfully done)
I cleaned up the picture a bit, and edited out the metric speed #s too since I don't need them. Its cleaner without them. This is a small version obviously. I might toss in one or 2 little pictures in there for flair... I dunno yet. Making a matching tach should be fun.

This is gonna look KILLER if I replace all my bulbs with blue LEDS like in that new tech article!

Oops... I just noticed things I need to fix
1. It still says KM/H when theres no metric number
2. Except for the 180, thats gotta go
3. its still grey in the centers of some of the numbers.
Details details. I'll do it tomorrow, my eyes can't take much more of this!

Just n case anyone hasn't drifted that way yet, I started a new thread in app + detail about this... I posted the tach I just made in there was well as a cleaned up speedo. I'm probably just gonna use plain white on the smaller ones.
