when I got my new hood the spring was so stiff, i had trouble pullin' the release...plus I had that annoying 1/4 inch gap between the nose and the hood. I took off the spring and everything is fine. You can't rest the hood on the spring without the hood latching though. When i pull the release, you can't visibly see the hood pop up, but all you gotta do is lift and it comes right up.
I guess I coulda cut the spring too
Not sure what problems you're having.....

when i shut the hood it seems fine, but when i go down the road at about 55 it pops up. the second latch(the lever) catches the hood, but the first lacth always releases it for some reason!

My hood sometimes sticks and won't open when I use the release. All I have to do is give it a tap and it pops right up.

ionicswing, it sounds like to me your hood latch either needs to be adjusted so that the latch will latch ( not just the secondary or safety catch ), or maybe the latch has a problem and just needs to be replaced. That part is way to cheap not to fix as compared to the damage that could happen when that hood comes up running down the highway at speed. On the guys that the hood wont open when you release the latch it may just need just a simple adjustment or even a little lubricant. It will change everything.

i replaced the latch today and the problem is fixed, once i took the latch off i saw what the hell was wrong with it. the metal part that comes over the bar on the hood was warped ,so it was able to go over the release part, therefore it came open all the time!!

yeah my hoods weird...unless this is how u guys do it.
i gotta close it a certain way. when i lower the hood down and i feel it pull down harder i have to slam it shut as hard as i can to get it closed and latched. is that the same for everyone else?

Hmmmmm
Hey Bub, kinda sounds like to me either you need to re-align the hood & latch or your latch is not working properly. These hoods are designed to drop about 12 inches or so, but the weight of the hood should shut & latch it if its aligned properly from all the Third gens that I have owned, Both Trans Am & Camaro. Good Luck, Joe
