Interesting question. I'm fitting IROC gfx (well, side skirts) on my Bird, and there is the natural lowered area where the badges go....I'd just hate to fill them in and smooth them over, but can't think of what 'custom' (ikes, braces for the rice comments) thing to put on there...something pro, but I just can't decide what. If I knew what engine I was dropping in, then I'd have a better idea what badging...hmm....

I don't know of any national chain or anything, but the best idea i can give either of you is to find a local custom car shop/builder. They can usually give you some good information as to what places will do emblems for you and what places would do emblems that are of high quality. The only drawback is that the emblems will probably be metal (not really a drawback, but if you're looking for some stock looking plastic like for the IROC sideskirt emblems then it wont be good, but they may know someone that can do that too.) The big thing is not to give up when searching for them. Some really good local body shops (that are not really known for custom jobs) may be of some assistance too, if you can't find a custom shop, they may know of one around you. The other thing you may want to look for if you want to find the right emblem is look at some from other generations of F-Body, it may have the perfect style that you are wanting. That's about all I can give, good luck to both of you.

I have a source for custom emblems.

They are embossed (they have a clear bubble) over vinyl.

I have a friend does this at his vinyl sign shop. He has made wheel center caps and emblems etc. and they look awesome. I had talked to someone here about this a few months ago, while my buddy was ironing out kinks in the process, but now I think that everything is working great. I'm thinking about getting some 350TPI emblems to replace my "IROC-Z" bumper emblem.

This is what you'll need to do for him. He will need a computer file of the EXACT shape of the emblem. Also...the size(lengthxwith) etc. I imagine they'll have to be EPS or Illustrator format, but I'll check. I can do the artwork for ya if you want , but first let's just see what interest is out there.

Anyone?

Yeah, .ai Illustrator files are no problem....but price is the question, for sure....say for a 2-colour emblem?

I work in Charlotte, was curious about the emblems, what is the contact info for the guy who does them? I am working on my designs now and would like to know who can create the actual emblems for me, and what kind of prices!? Any help would be gratly appreciated. Thanks!

Ok, well, I asked him about something we can all relate to. 4 center caps for wheel for instance...he would charge $60 dollars. He said that colors were not an issue "within reason", and I took that to mean fades like the "iroc" badges etc. were cool, but of course no Picassos...LOL

I'm not really sure how to actually get this thing started, but let's just say this...

Email me at c28@triad.rr.com privately.

You'll need to know the size EXACTLY, because, think about it, HE sure doesn't. And the art will have to be in a AI file...which I can arrange for you if need be.

Email with Questions.

I actually work at a vinyl sign shop too, and as far as the graphic, yes, anyone can do it, but he has a method for putting the clear "bubble" effect over it. He bought the system from the back of some sign magazine...so most shops don't have it....I think it's kinda new. My shop can order them in bulk, of course, but not in small quantities, which is what this process was designed for.

heh, heh, well, here's the thing. He's already doing it here in Greensboro. On one hand, I want to help everyone out on this board, on the other hand, I don't want to have to act as the middle man for tons of people. I'm easy for him to work with because I'm in town, and we both do graphics, so we "speak the same language" so to speak. I can see how doing tons of business over the phone would be a pain for him, so I'll be the "go-between" at least 'till I'm overwhelmed, but at the moment no one has Emailed me with any requests.

...what are you thinkin about doing?

I'd rather deal with specific requests via Email...so shoot me an Email!
