Need help w/cargo cover mount!!!!
I got a cargo cover for my 92, but it didnt come with one. I removed the trim panels to find the outline for the mounts but there's no place for the screws to go into. Any ideas?

Its pretty simple really. Just locate about where the mounts go(by either looking at a car or a pic of a car with them), drill a 2 or 21/2 inch hole with a hole saw( I forget the exact diameter so measure the mounts), then just crazy glue them in. You don't need the reinforcements behind the mounts because the tension of the cargo cover will keep it rigid enough.
You will need the reinforcement that goes behind the trim panel on the hatch though(where the blind connects to when it opens).
You can still order this from GM. I bolted it in and just used a drill to make the holes for the attachment points. It works great. E-mail me if you need more specific directions.

Hole saw??
Just cut out the holes by following the outlines of where the mounts go. Get yourself a set of metal brackets off another car or make your own, hold them where they should go, mark that spot with a Sharpie, and screw them to your car with sheet metal screws ...done.

Yeah..hole saw...its a $5 attachment for a drill and will make a better, more precise cut.
Also, the metal brackets behind the mounts are NOT necessary.

No flame intended, terror. Just thought it was a bit overkill for interior panels..my opinion and I'm sure it'll work just fine.
Green, what exactly would you like pics of? Just the location or what?

No biggie...I'm just trying to save him time. The metal reinforcements that go behind the round plastic brackets aren't really necessary. And the hole saw attachment for the drill makes a faster, cleaner cut.
I dont have any pics, but no lie, it took me like 10 minutes to put in the brackets and another 10 minutes to drill and screw in the reinforcement that goes in the hatch trim piece. Its really easy..go to GM and get the reinforcement and check out a car that has a cargo cover already.

I would like to see the backing plate so I can detirmine if thats what I want to do or not, but because I dont have access to a car that has one, any pics would help. After I use the hole saw, what do you recommend to cut those notchs out with, a Dremmel?

Well, if you dont get the reinforcement, the cover will pull on that plastic piece on the hatch when its closed. It's about 4 inches long with holes for the cover. The factory one is riveted on. I just drilled two small holes and bolted it on with shallow nuts and bolts.
If you go to the dealer, they'll have a detailed illustration that they can print out for you. The reinforcement is like 6-7 bucks.

Well this is basically it,a square type sheetmetal frame/bracket that holds the round shade holders in place.

I've picked them up at the boneyards and a local body shop. They're fairly common so I'm surprised you haven't located any.
