PMD seats.

Remeber those PMD seats with the rectangular hole in the head rest? I'll be getting a set this week and was wondering if I should use them in my car or sell them. They have no tears in them and they are black.

If I sell them, anyone here interested?

hehe. PMD seats. You could add a scanner in front and look like knight rider!

j/k. I actually think they'd look pretty good in your car. But if you do decide to sell them...start frequenting places where people are attempting knight rider conversions. They REALLy want those seats.

Thanks for the tip.
I am probably going to put the leather 96 seats back into my car, leather feels so much better than cloth.

How much are you selling them for? Do you have just the front seats? What kind of condition are they in....
Rated A, B, C, D, F......

I may be interested.

Shannon (Redraif) just got a set of them in her 82 Trans Am that we picked up yesterday (for free!) , and is planning to recover them and use them in Raif. What would you want for them?

Condition is A-B from what I remember, but I will confirm that when I get the seats tomorrow. I'll have pics of them as well.
I was thinking of asking in the neighborhood of $125-150 for the pair plus shipping. If i get the rears as well, maybe another $50-75. It all depends on what people are willing to pay.

I'm totally interested. I need to get some seats for my car since Joe needs his 4th gen ones back now. And with the time frame to get my frt pmd seats recovered I would have no seats till X-mas. Plus the ones I have are rough and I have no back seats. Email me with some pics if you can. redraif@yahoo.com
Thanks!

Yeah, I've got a pair of the PMD seats that I'll be recovering sometime soon I hope. Has anyone thought of using a 4 or 5 point racing harness with these seats? I think it'd look pretty sweet.

Something like this would be awesome.

Just run the strap that attaches to the body right through the holes in the headrests..

That was what was thinking if I evenually got to the point of needing them. The harness could attach to the roll bar and go thru the head rest hole. Hence me wanting the seats. I figure I have sat in racebuckets and I don't like them , but these could be the best of both worlds.

Here they are,

More pics are here,
http://www.transamws6.com/pics/pmd/

I was initially asking $150 for these, but since these are probably one of the best pair of stock PMD seats on the planet, I'd figure I'd ask for $400 for the pair, since the going rate for these seats in very used condition is up to $500.

The car was garaged and had seat covers over them for about 7-10 years I think. 1995 was when my friend got the car from his dad.

Well, I was offered $200 for the pair from Marks Custom Kits, one of the makers of the Knight Rider Kits and he sells them for $500 in pretty worn condition. I was looking at getting $400 for the pair since they are near mint.

Did he offer that for the whole set or just the fronts? I'm concerned about matching my back seats to these front seats, material wise. You know how hard that can be. It could cost me another $500 if they could match teh fronts material. So could you get the back seats?

I will probably put them on ebay since these are sought after for the KITT conversions. If it didn't cost so much to recover them in leather I'd put them in my car since I really like this style.
I used to have a pair of these in my T/A back in 2000 but they were in terrible condition, I had to put seat covers on them.
It was $700/pair to cover them in black leather so I passed and bought some 4th gen seats.

That was only for the front pair, which is all I have.
If I could get a black set of rear seats, I could get the PMD rears from my friend. He wants to have rear seats in the car so I'd need to give him another set.

If you could send me a decent set of black rear seats, I'd let you have the entire PMD set for $500.

Yes, Bruce at Hawks can help you out getting them recovered. I totally recomend him.

So those PMDs above are now my new seats. I sent the $ to Zepher and a replacement black back seat from Hawks, so I can get the whole matching set. Whoo Hoo! I had it all sent Monday, so maybe they will get to Zeph soon. Then mine will be on the way! Yippee! Sorry I just can't wait to have some of my own nice seats in my car finally.

So many thanks to Zepher and to Bruce at Hawks!

Congrats. Do they have the belt guides? Hard to tell from that pic. The PMD belt guides are kinda hard to find, especially in the right color. Also the large rectangular piece on the back of the seats has a tendency to come unglued. I'd love to see before & after pics with your seat project. good luck,

GT

They are 1982-only, never came on any Camaro, and the availability breaks down like this:

Firebird S/E - standard (22,000 made)
Firebird T/A - optional (roughly 75% of the 53,000 made got them)
Firebird base model - optional (roughly 40-50% of the 42,000 made got them)

Leather or cloth, various colors. Don't let the high prod numbers fool you.. you'd be surprised how rare they are. Every time I see a ripped up pair it's a total heartbreaker..

hmm

thats cool so i guess they are rare. my drivers side is pretty bad but the passanger isnt to shabby and the back are just stained now why would they be in an 86 IROC with every option avaliable? with tan cloth interior or saddle hide or something like that? BTW they are all power seats

They have the belt guides, they just weren't on the seats when the pic was taken.
The fabric on the back is coming off and needs to be glued on, but the fabric is in really good condition.

Those are in great shape, I'd hold onto them. my 82 TA has a set of tan leather (real leather) PMD seats. They are in pretty good shape too.
