lights lights lights everyone look

86 trans am

1) when i go to turn my lights on(front ones), and i hit the button on the lights dont pop up. but if i just barley press the button they come up then i press the button in the rest of the way, it works, wtf.

2) both lights on my head liner dont work. (it has ttops) with the full option head liner. i checked the fuses and replaced to the lights. BTW someone will get hurt if they tell me to press the buttons.

3) where do i find brand new rear light covers for my car. the pontisc ones with the black line grids inside.

Mine does the same as #1. This is a new switch too, actually the second new switch. I had it changed originally becuase the lights wouldn't go all the way down the first time you put them down. I'd have to turn them on and off again for them to go down all the way.

By full option headliner im guessing ya mean the overhead console, i have this in my hardtop, my main guess would be bulbs then id check the wires up under the headliner see if there all connected an connected right As for the tails check junkyards, i have a pair of the lights your looking for for sale but there starting to fog a little (the grid part) whats wrong with yours?

Ive never really thought of a price im not looking for much if your interested PM me

If you wanna fix yours, Redraif has a cool soloution where she went in and opened the taillights and peeled off the black grid, this is where she sanded down the indentations and stuff and cleaned em up but if ya dont sand it and you paint in the indentaions im sure it would look badass and last a long while

I had the same problem with my lights as #1 for years, then eventually the lights would just go out at unexpected times. replaced the light switch with a brand new unit and it went away. Zeph was yours brand new-used?? The possibility of a design defect in the switches is possible (or perhaps dirty contacts?) but the new switch did the trick for me.

Answer to #3. I didn't get new light covers but found a full rear set of the type you want from gmsportssalvage.com for 40 bucks shipped. They have a huge yard and it is all fbodies and corvettes, I once went there and it is like wonderland.

get a multitester with alligator clips on the leads (or just a simple continuity tester) & do a continuity test on the headlight switch (out of the car)... that should tell ya if ya got a bad light switch or not

Ya, 2 new ones and they both did the same thing.
Doesn't bother me, but on those very very very rare occassions I let someone drive the car, they can't get the lights to pop up.

Classic Industries sells the taillight lens covers with the opaque inserts brand new for $159 each if I remember correctly.
