Heated Mirrors? Possible?
I was driving home from work tonight and it was about 35-36*F outside. Needless to say the windows were fogged up all the way around. I really hate driving around in the winter with my mirrors all fogged up all the time. It makes it darn near impossible to see if the cops sneak up behind you. Anyway the question is, is there any way to heat the side mirrors like the way the back hatch glass is done? Perhaps some kind of element behind the mirror? Has anyone ever done this? Just a thought.

If definitley would be cool......BUT i think the expense associated with it, would be too much and not enough result....
Or you could find a donor mirror and fab something up, but then again, it would be kinda expensive......

Maybe...
You could find ANY junk yard car with a rear window defog... peel the coils off somehow... cut it and mod it... and wire it to work.
Just take a piece of each side and cut the middle out and solder it together.
That'd probably not be THAT hard to do and COULDN'T be that expensive! Just and idea.

semi-trucks have heated mirrors so im shure if u went to a trucking store of a place that repairs them u could find the thing that they use to heat their mirrors. i know its not like our rear defrosters so if u did it this way it wouldent look like some rigged job becasue no one would see it.

Hmm well, maybe you could put the defog coils on the back... it'd work slower, hopefully not screw up the mirror coating on the back, but it'd be invisible.
Just tossing Ideas out, the more input/crazy ideas on a topic like this the better.

If you knew what years & models of cars had heated mirrors, you should be able to locate them in a late-model junk yard.
Or, you can buy new ones...
with LED blinker
or
cheapie $19.95
Just do a search on the internet for "heated mirror"
[edited] A Mercury Sable has power heated mirrors. Here's a source for $59.95. That is an awesome price, and they don't look that bad...
