I just got a 94 Camaro 5 speed console from the junk yard for $10, I was looking all over the site and it looks like everyone has the 97+ console. Can the 94 one work? Anyone have pics i can look at? Thanks for any help!!!!

I have a console from a 93 camaro, but it's a automatic one. It will fit, but you have to chop the cassette pod off, as it doesn't go high enough to replace the stock pod in our cars. Also I have a 85 Bird, so it might be different for you. You also have to drill new holes so you can push the console up further towards the radio pod. I got a piece of carpet and glued it to where the cassette pod was so you can't see it. Sorry, I don't have any photos'. Have to buy a camera.

thanks for the help. how different is the firbird console, I guess i will have to do some searching and try to find some pics of the stock firbird console. I have all the seats out and just holding it up i dont see how it would work but i guess i will just have to take it all out and see what ive got.

The main difference is the 85 and up bird console is two pieces and the camaro is one solid piece. That's probably why everybody is using the later 4th gen console. It's easier to install. So I think you'll have to cut your console from your radio pod.

WILL NOT FIT

I bought one of those for 120 from an online place and chopped it up to fit, and to have my switches fit...only to find a horrible gap between my radio pod and the console. not to mention the arm rest design (the swivel part) is a bad design. It WILL break if it goes all the way back too fast. Do yourself a favor and give that thing away. I had to throw mine away.....ack.....120 bones down the drain.

Get a 97+ one. the angle is much better to fit up to your thirdgen stuff

Not true! I also have a 1993 console out of a camaro w/5speed shifter. The back screws line up perfect. After cutting the camaro rario pod, put the 4th gen back in. Mark alittle to the front of directly down from the 3rd gen pod. Like, take a cd case and lay the biggest flat part on the cut off part of the 3rd gen. Take a dry earse marker and mark a line on the 4th gen console. Take out the 4th gen console, and cut alittle in front ( towards front of vechile) of line. Find or buy a piece of plastic that fits over the whole hole cut out, and attach it. Then, install the 4th gen again. Take off the shifter boot and attach some brackets ( easily made out of sheet metal or cut plastic from console) to the piece of plastic and the new console. Put the shifter plate back on and your set! The switchs can be moved to the ash tray, or make a box and locate right under drivers dash. Those are just ideas for the switches, but the other stuff really works. Looks very nice once done. I would have a pic if my fricken sony "balony" digital camera was working, but it isnt, sorry. If you need help, just pm me, later.

It fits, I have a few gaps, the plan is to epoxy/steel brace the new console to the old part, then do some glass work.

Hatch switch is in under the console lid, window switches are being re wired and moved to a set of the nice '89 GTA door panels.

Now hold on a sec. I cut off the tape holder thing. This leaves a gap that is very obnoxious. If you want an easier fit and a better designed lid, go with the 97+. Yours looks like it fits....but you cut the tape holder thing, I thought it looked like trash and so I trashed it. Whatever you want to do....it's your money. My 2 very valuable cents. :lala:
