SS Hood with speed grille insert???

hey, any of u thought of this? I've been wanting to do it...but i cannot seem
to find a place that sells it. I think it would look much nicer than that black
plastic insert thats in there. ASCD was talking about making one, but i havent
heard of any progress, and i talked to them about it, about a year ago. Any
one attempted making or fabricating one? Just curious

see that type of grille on my full size blazer? thats a speed grille. I removed
my other one and put that in. I once saw a 00 or 01 SS with one in its hood
instead of the black plastic one. It looked awesome. I think it would just be
a lot nicer, I guess ill prob ending up fabricating one tho. I just wish ASCD
would make one, but then hey, i wont have any fun i guess.

I can't quite see what style your grille is, is it a mesh type or the ones with round holes in it?

Ya' know what's scary?
We both have red IROC's with SS hoods
We both have black Blazer/Tahoes

Btw, got some more pics of your Blazer?
Here is one of my Tahoe:

what kinda beasts you keep in the back of that thing? I can see the caging
a bit. Yea thats a tad bit strange. I love my truck almost as much as my
car. Granted its not as fast, but its a different kinda feeling, being up mad high
and driving over stuff. but yea, i want to get a similar grille just for the ss hood
hopefully ill make one or find one, seeing our hood is the size of the 97 SS.

yea,
If any u guys know where to find parts to these trucks, id like to know.
Mine got broken into and i need a couple interior parts, but alas GM doesnt
sell any of them anymore! And i thought finding camaro parts is hard! Not
even as close as this! I cant even find the panel i need in ANY color. I would
not mind having it redyed, but i cant even find it!

FYI - You may already know this , but thought I would mention . The 82-92 SS hood has the exact same factory grill insert as the factory GM 96-97 SS hoods . So any 4th gen 96-97 aftermarket grill insert will work in your hoods and I have seen them . I just dont know where to tell you to look .

Car , as always .....is lookin awesome Ken

btw , grey interior looks 100x's better than the red

Check www.rksport.com, they do not have any for the ss hood becuase on 4th gens they are functional, but they do have some for the stock hood. I know they are not made exactly for the ss grille, but they could be modified to fit. I am not sure it was just a thought.

irocEOK,
Actually I have NO beast in the back of the Tahoe. It is just some stupid laws over here in Norway. If you have a station wagon, SUV, PickUp etc., you can have it registered as a commercial vehicle. It saves a crapload of taxes on sticker price on the car. However, it cannot have more than 3 seats and there has to be a physical divider between the seats and the cargo area - thus the thing behind the seats.
If I want to pull up the rear seats and have people back there, it is (as of today) about $10K in taxes to pay. When the vehicle is 10 years old you can remove the divider and flip up the rear seats without cost.
Oh, and from the first year the vehicle was registered the taxes go down by 10% a year - so on my Tahoe the tax is now reduced by 90%, meaning that when this Tahoe was new the price difference between a commercially registered one and a "regular" one (with back seats) was about $95K

Quick6,
I don't really have many pics of it yet as I got it right before the winter so I haven't been able to take that many.
However, here are a couple after from when I switched to the winter tires:

Derek,
Heyyy bud - whatsup?
I thought I remembered that you said the 96-97 grilles would fit the thirdgen hoods.
I wholeheartedly agree that the neutral interior looks better than the red. Plus, it gives room for pretty much any color change if that happens down the road
BTW, I looked at the pics of your TA a few days ago - it looks VERY sharp with the new front end on it. NICE!
Are you still looking into getting another thirdgen?
