Pics of thirdgens with no back seat
Can anyone show me some pics of thirdgens with the back seats taken out? I am considering removing mine to use all that space back there. No one ever sits in the back anyways. I could fit a lot more stuff back there during long trips and I could also move my amp out of the hatch area.

here's something i took really quick.....
I think it looks nasty, but hey - 1) u can keep essentials back there(wheel wipes, quick detailer, rags...) 2) I can throw my bag back there after school and 3) you can't have 3 people all asking "Hey, can you give me a ride?" "Nope, only got 2 seats" and if you're lucky enough to have a g/f... unlike me... but that one would be taken, and you're good to go.

I took out my bottom back seats because i didnt want anyone to sit back there, it bottoms out. In the process, i found alot of useful space. I keep the back part attached so that you can fold it down, over all you "stuff" that you decied to fill the space with. And you still maintaine a clean look, i acually like that look better than having two seats in the back full of school books and cd holders, but just my opinion.

i was thinkin about doing this since stupid new jersey laws when ur 17 u get a provisional license which means u can only drive with one other friend.....so that would have left out the change of getting a ticket for other people in the car

Like the way that looks, hmm got me thinking. Since its just me and maybe one room mate most of the time the extra storage space would be nice. So how do i go about removing those seats. I mean it looks like it really opens up some space back there.

how long did it take you guys to take out those back seats? ive been thinkin about taking them out, but i might need to be putting them back in every once in a while...so if its too much of a pain in my a$$ i dont want to remove them
It's just a matter of 1 bolts holes one each bottom piece and a couple more bolts holding the rest. It takes less than 10 minutes to remove them. I took out the rear in my GTA and for the last years it's just been sitting back there in place not even bolted down, it's doesn't move at all under hard cornering but then again I've never had a person in the back of my GTA since I've owned it so I don't know how it will hold up with people back there...

I'm also planning to remove the backseat on my '90 RS. I will fit a rollbar, with a bolted crossbar, so I can attach harnesses like the ones in 92GTA's pic (in blue, w/separate left and right belts). I will bolt the crossbar, so if I need to regain the utility of the rear seat, it won't be in the way when unbolted (already have it designed).
One question GTA, how far back are the rear bars attached (looks like trunk edges, not wheelwell tops)? I haven't removed my rear plastic covers yet, to see where can I attach them.
Appreciate if you had a pic of that.
Thanks,
Thunderboy

Those black things are what the seat bottoms bolt too, is that what your're asking about?

Hg's are nice and painted, so are the ones in my GTA. I can't really see the one's in the other pics but the ones in my Firehawk should be red like the car but SLP painted them black. The ones in my GTA are the color of the car...
I see what you mean now, mine are smooth and have sides welded on. I wonder why SLP instead of just removing them all together? I guess because they didn't want to have to replace the original carpet. Hmm, never noticed that before...

I just took em out. (still got the backs in there since i don't have any hex heads or what ever to take the belt off of em) Man i love working on my car (damn poor college student syndrom and apartment complex parking , no jack and too cold), always feel like i accomplished somthing afterwords, even if i don't fix anything. Lots more room back there and even found the key to a tracker under one of the seats. I will probably get pics in the next few weeks once i get a chance to wash the car and vacum the inside. If you don't put someone back there take em out, its one bolt for the bottoms and its easy as hell to do. Massive room increase and with the backs out smooths the look of the interior out quite a bit.

I took my seats out for 3 reasons:
A) Needed the extra room so I could transport my mini fridge and Tv
B) To have a permanent 2 seater - no sits or can sit there comfortably so why not.
C) To have fewer parts in my car
The only problem is the hole where the seats were. I just put some extra floor mats over them. I put my cushions back in though because I was transporting some delecate electronics. I am going to take the seats back out when I get home.

Girls don't seem to care if my car has seats or not... I drive, I'll have 3 passengers, and two more will still hop in and just sit one someones lap, lol. Hell, I even had one that just sat on the roof when I had the tops off once, lol (for the 1/4 mile ride back to school after lunch BTW when I was in HS lol)
I'm not gonna fight them about it, just makes me look like a stud!

Haha beat this. I'm in the midst of taking almost my entire car apart. Its not hard at all to take those seats out by the way, I did all that in like 20 minutes maybe. Ya its got alot of work but I think I'll keep those rear seats http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...page_id=756169

Don't know if I should since I don't own the car anymore. I don't want to be spreading around pictures of someone elses car without their permission, especially a VERY high profile car like #003...
