I don't think I like them, unless I do some "modding."
These are pix of it attached directly - meaning at the same angle that the "black triangle" sits:

With some modification...
These pix are of it attached NOT at the same angle as the black triangle. This would require a wedge of some sort to make it sit level with the car/parallel with the ground. This I like more than the previous look - but I still think the casing may be too "bulbous" for the car.
*sigh* Let's hear it. If the only thing you have to add to the thread is to call "r<x>ice" do yourself a favor and just hit the "Back" button.

Great mod! I love the turn blinker in those, but agree that the mirror itself may be to large. I like the mirror setting level with the ground vs tipped up.
What is the object in the sail panel? Looks like a bolt head/slot.

I'll just start by saying I love all the work you've done to your car. I love you ingenuity (sp?) However, I honestly don't really like the way that mirrow looks, it sticks out too far for me. It looks alot better in the second set of pics, but I've seen others with different mirrors (redraif) and it just doesn't do it for me. I haven't really seen anything yet that looks better than the stock 3rd gen mirrors IMO. But its your car, keep up the great work

I don't think it looks too bad at all. Whats that car under the cover in the background?

nope don't like it , the mirror looks too "fat" , lol
there are tons of others out there , try some for integras, those should be a bit smaller and more elongated than the fat m3 one you have on there

your car is looking great, I really like the attenna idea. But when I look at the 2nd pic, that shows the old and new mirriors, I like the old ones alot better. The new ones are too boublely.

I think it looks better with it level with the ground. I had thought of doing this with the stock mirrors. Never looked into it that much beside checking out just the lights they sell seperately. Could you possibly take, say a Dremel with a cut-off wheel and cut out a hole for one of these lights? Is there even enough room behind the mirror shell before you would hit the actual mirror? I don't know, never took one out to see. Just an idea! I am sure you could pick up a set of used mirrors for cheap, take all the paint off ,and then cut away. No? I still think the concept looks good though. Keep up the good work man. Later
Well, thanks for the looksee fellas.
I may look into Corvette mirrors, or just keep my eyeballs open as I drive around. We'll see. Shannon did the fourth gen mirrors that looked really good, but I thought they appeared just a bit too small and sort of out of proportion. 'Course, I went the other way and got a couple that are a bit too fat...
MetalliCamaroRS: That's a '68 Firebird under the car cover; it's a wreck and will be parted out here shortly.
Smurfmobile: I'll look into the Integra mirrors.
Jawsforlife1: Roger that on the bubbly look. LOL
86IROCNJ: I agree with you on the level ones looking better. As far as putting your own lights in, it should be possible. IIRC, there is a ton of space behind the actual mirror on the stockers.

I actually like the shape of that mirror (in the second fit, not the first)... but I HATE the turn signals in them. I can't stand that, it looks horrible!
If you had mirrors that shape without the lights (And maybe a tad bit smaller?), that would rock

I like the second try better than the first.
Also, I think the only thing that is not working for me is how far they stand off from the car. I have a similar opinion on the 4th gen side mirrors. Anyway, if you're still fishing for suggestions I'd say try moving the mirror closer into the body and it might look more appealing to you.

"Hate" is such a powerful word spike.
I'm not a big fan of them either and wouldn't run the "turn signal" wiring, just the parking light. 'Course, you may not be a fan of that either, in which case, uhhhh, oh well.
Mike: I'm not sure what you mean. So, you like it and think it would work well? Tell me how you really feel.
Jim: The second variation is my favorite of the two; now I've just got to make a wedge, paint the whole shebang one color and try it again. I don't think they stick out too too far, they just look too bulbous.

scauffiel, i would liek to talk to you about some of the mods you did other than the sideview mirrors (BTW they look great). Send ya a pm im deffinately interested in knowing more about some of the stuff you did, thanks if you can help me out.
I think it looks great. Thats exactly what I had planned to do, only I was going to try a set of 'Euro M3' mirrors for the fox body mustangs (made by APC). I've just been too busy with the body of the car (gettn ready for a paintjob!) My only concern was if the piece the mirrors mount to can hold up at high speeds (assuming they're bolted in). What car were those mirrors made for? PM me if you dont want them anymore and you'd like to sell em.

i think it looks good but i'd do a little be more moding because for some reason to me the mirror looks a little tilted to the upward directing it doesn't look like it's sitting flush with the door you know what i mean? maybe tip it down a little to make it look like it's suppose to be there.
I agree that the 2nd set of pics. look alot better than your first.
If you could get them attached level like that they will look good,, but, I don't like the lights in them,, there to big.
NO offence.

, but as you all know time is valuable and I don't have all the time (or money) in the world to try every combo of mirror.Sorry for the soapbox and I'm not picking on you Mike, even though you've said it twice now
, but it's just something that irks me when reading posts - be it on this board or others. It's okay to criticize a problem if you've got an idea for a solution. Else, you're just adding to the melee. I've looked at a couple of the Integra mirrors and I think they'd be too small - though it's hard to gauge online what they'd look like. A co-worker owns an M3 which is why I could eyeball that to see if it'd be a good size.

In my personal opinion, time to get out some fiber glass knowlegde.
I've fiddled with this idea before. Well photoshoping anyhow, never actually found one and attempted.
I really think the stock ones look best, but if that were the case for you, you wouldn't be asking opinions now would ya.
In all the pictures it looks like the angle is gonna be tricky for you and you mentioned having to figure out how to make a wedge to mount it.
It kinda looks like it sticks out to far. I think the unpleasing thing that makes it not flow right is the way it tear drops.
What about triming the edge so it rids closer and more even to the window sill? This might give the illusion of the tear drop edging into the fender side more.
See the more I like at it it does look ok, but I think the gap is the thing that keeps drawing my eyeball. If its pushed to the coner where the door meets, just like you have, and maybe shaved a few cm's off to bring it tighter, I think it might look really good.
But I'd photoshop that first. before I go shaving the thing. IF it looks horrible, crap.
4th gen mirrors look good too, but you have to consider how they mold into the fender, so, I dunno.
BTW, you can find a transloucent white paint at the hobby shop, if you polish those sides, and then paint the car and use the transloucent white, it might just blend so well you won't know its there till its lite.
I work with the Marines everyday. I know how you guys like your stuff.

With the wedge I think it makes a big difference. If you could also tilt them back (i.e. front to back, not perpindicular to the car) a little, then I'd really like them. They just look like they're tipping toward the front of the car right now. You might have to reshape the triangle area for them to look right tilted back, but overall I think it'll be a lot better.
you could probalbly make the mirrors sit flush like the first pic but cut the supports make the top one longer and the bottom one shorter so the angle of the mirror will sit flush with the ground. at least thats what i would anyway. oh i like the second pic and all of the mods you've done great job.
Hey that car is looking great,..hate to steel your thread but is there any way i can put a front bumber on my car like scauffiel..I got a 87 pontiac firebird..can i just swap off the one on it now and put one on it or will i have to do a lot of moding..and molding? thinks for help

and yet another amazingly awesome mod by scauffiel! That car is going to be amazing when its done, its amazing already! Keep up the nice work man.
Jim85IROC: I may be a bit thick this morning but I'm not sure I get ya. Do you mean bring the front "point" more outboard, away from the car?
89firechicken: Yeah, that thought crossed my mind, but once I do that then I'm done if it doesn't work; they won't be fixable.
firebird13: Uhhh, all of the stuff on my front bumper is custom done by me. Now if you mean the actual "nose cone" then, yeah you can buy it and put it on, but it won't have the lights or holes for the fogs. If you don't have ground effects on the rest of your car, it may look kind of goofy too.
Xceleratemaro: Well.... Thanks brother! I'm not sure it's the BEST looking car on the planet, but I sure do like it.
IROC57TPI: You could, but that's pretty expensive just to add some lights to your mirrors. I got these for $50 through eGay not knowing if they would work or not, so I pretty much considered it "throw away" money. I'd find another way of doing the lights to stockers if that's what you like.
82firebird: Dude... That's a lot of amazing.
Not to mention, who said it'll ever get done?
Thanks for the ideas and opinions fellas - I guess I'll be working some wedges this weekend!

Oh, gotcha. I couldn't get the damn thing to stay there without using clamps and electrical tape, and that was haphazard (I could feel the mirror just waiting for me to get out of a "quick lunge" range) so that was the best I could do.
