Hmm.. there should be a little metal thing attached to the door jam. Try adjusting that back and forth.

Right in the door jam. Can't miss it. It looks like a big metal square.

Is there any play in the hinges? With the door open can you lift up and down on the door? If so then you may need to replace the pins.

do yo uhave t-tops? is it currently really cold?

when i shut my door if its really cold the t-top seal thing gets quite stiff and hilds the door back when i shut it, i find if i roll the window down a little bit before i shut it it shuts perfectly.

i havent done anything yet to it. i plan on this summer re-aligning the window because i notice that the rear sits a little bit higher. i think that may fix it cause i have tried to move the t-tops back a bit or readjusting them but no beans

I suspect the infamous GM hinge pins and bushings have struck again.

New pins and bushings are cheap, your friendly local dealer can get them for you. Once those are installed your problem will either be cured, or at least you will have proper door alignment. That will make it easier to work with the latch if needed.

door pins arent the problem here. lets put this together smallwood...our problem is that our windows are hitting the t-top liner, so if we needed to put new pins in that would fix the sagging doors right? last time i checked gravity pushed down im jsut trying to be funny i dont mean to **** anyone off but the bushings and pins arent the porblem

The rubber at the t-top is one problem, but what frequently happens with these cars is the bushings in the hinge wear out, causing the rear of the door to sag. That causes the bottom of the door to hit the door frame. 87Z28 did say his door sagged a bit. Now as for the window problem, you're on the right path there, hamspiced. You'll have to pull the door panel and re-align it
(stating the obvious there, aren't I?)

No offense taken. Too bad about the body cancer, but a suitable door can't be hard to find.

well the cancer is so acute and sectioned its sad. it sonly on the door and a small tiny bit on the rear wheel well and thats it. but i want to get fiberglass doors (i know the risks no need to preach) but our doors are just too heavy.

I have an Uncle who lives in Toledo, and it's always a shock to me to see what those northern winters do to a car. As for your door, I won't bother with the preaching ( although it is tempting as I contemplate the work my new 'glass aerowing will need before paint). Our doors are to damned heavy, and fiberglass is the only cure I know of.
