does any one know what type of trans am in 84 came with the ram air hood . or did they all have that in 1984 ? is it rare ? the hood that draws arir from the back of the hood

i believe you are referring to the formula 'Power Bulge' hood and i dont think they were available until 1987...which was when the Formula was introduced.

it just like that hood . but has a little round thing under it that sucks air from the back of the hood . where it is meshed . i have seen those hood like your on a 89 fromula i had but it was blocked on those. this is factory . i have seen them on other cars but payed no attention to them

 

All 84 Trans AM's came with the hood. The hoods were mainly used for the carbureted V8's. I’m not to sure but someone can correct me if I’m wrong but most Trans AM’s with the LG4 and LB9 carbureted V8s 84 – 89 came with these hoods. Here is a picture of my 84 Trans AM.

 

Yep, that hood was first used on the 82 TA as an option and standard on 83 and 84 TAs. I think all of them had the air induction as I've seen it on LG4, L69 and CFI cars. In 85 the TA got the twin vent hood that it kept until 92. Formulas that used the early TA hood did not have the air induction.

 

I got one of those hoods recently off of an 82 TA that had Crossfire Injection. Its near perfect, and I'm willing to part with it if anyone who's willing to drive to Atlanta for it is interested.

They are OZ Monte Carlos 17x9.5. They originally sold for around $1000-$1200. My brother bought them from a friend that needed money. Paid $200 for them. I traded my brother my WS6 wheels since he needed some tires and I was being nice.

Normal price for used WS6 wheels in near mint condition is about $600 with no tires. I got a deal on mine for $225.
Ya, 3 of those tires are pretty bald, one is nearly new.
