Faded lettering on switches.

The lettering on my switches (cruise, power mirrors, windows) is totally or almost totally faded. I was wondering if anyone has used their own method of "rewriting" them on the switches. If so, what have you used? Paint will work but what do I use to actually write the small letters. I know I can get new switches but if they're still in good working condition then no point in spending more $$. Besides, they're prolly discontinued anyways. Thanks.

You can still get them for a 91, there pretty much easy to get. If your local Autozone don't have them yoru GM dealer should be able to get them, and there not all that expensive.

you can get them online too, here

Try the Eastwood Company. I think they make paint for interior switches. I saw something about it in Car Craft a couple of years ago. I will look through the arcives to see if I can find the article.

THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THIS UP!!!!!!!!!!

My 85 Camaro and my wife's car (93 LeSabre) are both in Immaculate condition except for the faded lettering on the turnsignal/cruise switch.

I also don't want to spend half the day changing tearing apart the column to replace a perfectly good part.

I believe originally the switches are silkscreened, I am not sure since they are a curved surface, Thats how they do the lettering tho.

Unless they have small children over in Indonesia with really good penmanship doing the letters.

You might be able to make a decal that has white letters and stick it on... ???? (White ink is hard to find for computer printers tho...)

That's what i was hoping

So who do we lobby about having a sticker set made tolay over the worn lettering? The nice thing about this product is it would cover everything GM made since 1980-1993.

Another option is a transfer of some sort... I have seen things that you take and place it on what you want, then with an eraser or penny, or whatever it takes you rub the stuff off onto the part that you want with that pattern. Don't know how long it would last tho...

Only problem with that I see is keeping it still while you rub the eraser or penny on it. Many times it weould be on an un even surface and hard to keep lined up.
