how do you fix lip on console?

ok, how do you fix this properly? i tried fixing it once with some contact cement and it worked for about 2 weeks, then it started to come undone. When i fixed it i glued the lip (red arrow) to the plastic edge (yellow arrow). this was the best way that i thought it could be fixed....obviously i was wrong.

anyone have any suggestions?

yeah thats correct, probably your glue just did not hold up.

i think the vinyl actually likes to shrink which creates the problem.

You guys are playing with glue? Use steel! You can see what I did in this pic... it's when my ignition lock broke. I did this fix a few years ago (like, '96), and most of the paint is missing off the bolt heads. The bolt heads were primed and painted gloss black, and the braces themselves were primed and painted with "wrinkle black". The brace is 1/8" thick, 1/2" wide steel stock from Home Depot.

It worked out really sweet when I installed my B&M shifter- the B&M shifter paint is painted with wrinkle black!
