Adding texture to a custom fabbed interior panel ....fatal88 or anyone who would know

I fabbed a bezel for the radio hvac controls in my 95 Trans Am to make a single DIN head unit look like it should actually be there . I used body filler ...aka bondo and it turned out exactly how I wanted . Stumped on one thing though . How the hell would add texture back to this piece . I thought about sandblasting to get a real fine matte looking texture , but I would bet that would not make the bondo very happy

What to do guys ?

I imagine you are going to be painting this right? I don't know if this would be something you would be interested in, but I know there are aerosol cans out there that spray a texturized coating on a panel. And you can lay out the coating how you like depending on how fast/slow you go and how far/close you are. Its something to think about anyways.

maybe you could fill the textures on the guages trim too and paint it to match and leave them both flat. and paint the flat parts like the 4 squares (blank/foglights....headlight.....ciglighter....rear defog) the same color.

I know it's going to sound crazy but ... truck bedliner spray. I custom fabbed a new panel for my gauges and sprayed it with this stuff. If you take your time this will look almost exactly like the rest of the dash plastics.

Hard to tell but these are the best I have right now. I will be taking some new shots when the car comes back from the paintshop in a couple of weeks.

Awe crap! Alright. Just try the page and see the pics at the bottom row. You might have to cut and paste the link into a new window.
