What ya think of my 4th gen interior?

These are some crappy pictures of my 4th gen interior, but you guys wanted to see them, so I took some. Just tell me what you think. I still need to patch the end caps and put the top cap on.
Here is one pic.

very nice job. 91z28, its kinda hard to write up a tech article on this swap. Im sure everyone has done it different as far as mounting it goes. It just a matter of removing your old dash and mock fitting the new one and trim where needed.

Looking good!!! I can't wait to get my 2002 black T/A dash and console in. I have everything but the dash and some pieces. Damn Speedautomotive has had my money since November. and my returned dash since Dec.

Looks good. But just curious, why does the dash look black on the drivers side and grey on the pass. side? Is it just the pics?

Kandied, If he took the pic like that then I assume he had it bolted up already If he did the there is almost no way tomove the dash up and down. The first screw I put in was the screw right to the left of the pass. airbag. I used the same hole that is ont he firewall. Once its lined up there there is no way to move it up and down at all.. The exposed firewall top will be covered when the pad goes on.

Camar92, here's some forsight since I've been here done that. To get a profesional looking finsih when you install the dash pad, have the winsheild removed, this way you can mark and cut MUCH easier, I then mocked the windshield back into place to check my progress, once that was done and you have the dash where you want it-securd not doubt-set the windsheild back down and use some fine line tape and tape the outside of the windshield folowing the dash lines behind it. Then flip over the winsdsheild tape the inside where the tape is on the outside, mask it off and paint the bottome half flat black. Maybe the Camaro dashes are different, but when I installed the 99 bird interior into my 86 bird, the rake is much different than factory, so when you were standing outside the car you could literally see under the dash and it looked awful because the factory winsheild tint around the bottom does'nt go high enough for the new stuff. By the time I had the windsheild installed, I made note of the problem to the windsheild guys and they were the ones that informed me of the painting process, I ended up having the guy that does all my lettering install a black strip across the bottom of the windshield to cover the gap, then cut it down to the very bare coverage

IHI: the 93-96 maro dash (as is installed in this case)'s dash setup is much different. Where as the 97-02 maro/firebird have that giganttor cluster pop up, then it stops and your left with dash pad on the middle of the pop up, the 93-96 plastic cover meets almost flat with the rest of the dash pad.

Its probably easier with the window out on that yr dash but not nearly as helpfull on the 98-02 dashes.

I see, gigantor is'nt the word for my pad-when I got it and set it in place, the thing went way into the engine compartment covering the distribuator and almost hitting my air cleaner. You camaro guys got it easy. I shouda got a true GM car (maro) instead of a bastard child that gets shoved in the corner when company is around (bird)

kinda cruddy back shot, I'm installing amps and subs at some point so I just got a used rear carpet from Hawks's since it's all gonna be covered eventually anyways.

Did you have to make any mods to the door panels to install them?

Thanks

Thanks guys. Ive got some more work to do. What im gonna do is Im gonna finish this one as well as possible. Then in about a year when I do a complete rebuild ( Its got over 180k0), Im gonna weld in the firewall from 94-02 firebird and install all components in original spots. Right now, my fuse block is ziptied to dash frame, no vents except defroster ( way to difficult to send hoses to each vent, and my temp. selector doesnt work due to me not having the cable that goes in the back. I spliced all the vacuum lines together, actually I made a post awile back, but no one replied, so it was over looked i suppose. But Im gonna redo everything and make everything in my whole car new. Yes, the carpet will be new too. Its all a work in progress. You could call this first dash just some practice. It only cost me 75 anyway. So I guess for that much, it does look pretty good, huh? Well, Im glad you all like it, I was worried it wouldnt look right.
Later.
