Leather auto shift ****...????
I bought this shift **** for my car, thinking it would fit without a problem Well, as it turns out, it doesn't. My car has the round black cue-ball looking shifter **** on it, which seems to mount differently than what I just bought. Is there a way to fit the leather **** onto my car??? Is it possible to get a different shaft to mount the **** on?
Please offer whatever help you can, I definitely want to install this ****!

You have to get a shifter out of an 88-92 Camaro. I know because when I actually find that 87 IROC-Z (been looking so long) I'm changing it to the round **** because I just don't like the square too much and I already went and got the shifter, ****, and everything in advance.

It can be done.
My 84 had the ugly plastic round **** thing too.
You have to do some modifying to make it fit, If I remember right.
Coming out of the shifter is a plastic stick like thing right? This has to be trimmed off some, because its too long with the new style ****.
You'll also have to use a dremmel, and cut out some slots down the front and back of the shifter to allow the **** to slide down onto it.
It takes a little patience, and some skill with a dremmel but you can make it work. Took about an hour or so, to make it fit the way it suppose too.
Mine has been on there for a couple years now, and doesn't fall off or anything.

Chris.. how does the **** stay on? I don't see anywhere for a C-clip or other fastener like on the round *****.
I'm getting a shifter from Slow88lb9, but if that doesn't work out, I'll bust out the dremel.

On the front of the **** (or back depending on how your looking at it), the side toward the radio.
You'll see on the shifter ****, a very small slot where a U shaped pin goes through. Hopefully the pin is there, on the one you got. If not go to a wrecking yard and try and find one.
Pull it out of the ****, and place the shifter **** onto the shifter. I was able to now tap the pin back into the ****, which then fastens itself around the shifter itself. Which holds it in place.
The factory shifter for those cars, had a small slot for the pin. I can't remember if I needed to or not, but you may need to take a cutting wheel from your dremmel, and make some very small cuts on the shifter where the pin would slide onto it. Sort of a channel to help the pin slide onto the shaft.
Its really not that hard, its harder trying to describe the process.

OK, I see what you're talking about. The **** didn't come with a pin, but maybe there's one on the shifter that's being sent to me. If not, I'll hunt one down. Thanks for the description

Thanks a lot, Slow88lb9, you've been a tremendous help. PM me your address so I can send you some cash for shipping out the shifter to me. It shifts a little funny, but nothing 5 minutes and a dremel won't fix. Where do you get the part numbers from?

I made a LeAnn Rimes compilation video a few years back and was giving them away free with the purchase of my photo set.
Her lawyers didn't like that so after getting several letters from them, I stopped selling the photoset.
Those vids were the opening and closing of the video. I did them with Lighwave 3D, Speed Razor, and The Video Toaster back in 96/97.

Why not just change the whole shifter out instead of trying to modify the old one?
