dome light question

What would cause my Dome light not to work when opening the driver's side door? It works when the passenger side door is opened. It also works when user the dimmer switch. Thanks of any information concerning this.

There's a little peg inside the door jamb that is triggered when you shut the door, to shut off the dome light. It may be that your trigger is stuck, and not popping back out when you open the door. Check that. I'm not sure on fixing these, I imagine there's a spring that needs replaced.

You may have to replace that pin switch... It just screws out and has a blade conector on the back. Sometimes if there has been a side impact or if the door is sagging and not closing right, it will put pressure on this and case the metal case around the spring to bend and bind the switch...

Try opening the door and looking at the pin switch...its on the body in the front jam... try wiggling it to see if the pin will come out. You might try some WD-40 if it only slightly sticking... If it is moving freely in and out, the check the blade connector where the wire connects. You will need to take out the pin switch to check this, or take out the kick panel. It probably easier to take out the pin switch...make sure it has a good connection.
