Spray on rust stuff

Has anybody used the stuff you spray onto rust to "fix" it? It comes in a can from the parts store. I have a few small rust spots, and don't really have the time or knowldge right now to fix it. It would be about a year before I would be able to do so, so would the spray stuff be a good temporary solution?

If possible, use POR-15. It the best on the market, in my opinion.

Well, I don't think that the Autozone near my house carries the POR 15, but they do have the stuff that is made by the same company that supplies their paint. Would I need to put some paint or primer on top of it, or just leave it?

Order the kit. You'll have it in two to four days.

for rust i like to use a scraper for the bad rust, then wire wheel it down good and hit it with some muriatic acid. i've seen nothing that works better, when done just use some water to wash off the acid, dry it well and paint.

I just used Permatex Rust Treatment. It was pretty cheap and it worked pretty good. Just took some sand paper and a wire brush and cleaned it first.

The kit contains Metal Prep, Marine Clean, the POR-15 (Paint Over Rust), rubber gloves, and brushes--all you'll require to do a pemanent job. Do a search for POR-15 and see what members say before you choose a convenient product.

My cousin painted the frame on his 68 Firebird about 5 years ago with POR-15. Its been sitting in the weather ever since. The frame looks good as the day he painted it.

POR-15 is the only way. I wouldnt use any other product. Just be careful when spraying it, if you breathed in those fumes; it would not be too good for that stuff to harden in your lungs.

Well, here's the thing. I am leaving for boot camp in less than two weeks, and with boot and AIT, I am going to be gone for about 10 months. I just don't want the rust to get any worse while I am gone. Also, where it has rusted right by the windshield, it leaks a little, and I wanted to try to stop the leak. Will the POR 15 stop the leak, or should I slap on some bondo? All I have time to do right now is a temporary solution while I am away, and I will (hopefully) finally be able to start fixing up the camaro in earnest once I am done with my training.

If I was in your shoes, I would seek some place where I could store the car in a dry environment, like a storage place with CONCRETE floors, or someones old barn WITH CONCRETE, or a friends garage, etc...
