I spilt a quart and a half of baby formula under the passenger seat 4 days ago and was only able to sop it up with rags because i hadour 2 month baby by myself.Anyway after trying to clean it with some stuff from walmart with ODOR X (which doesnt work)i cant get rid of the smell of sour, fermented cheese!Everytime i drive it now i want to puke!!I took the seat out last night and scrubbed but its still horrible.Any ideas? Will i need to replace the carpet? Thanks, chris.

A small steam cleaner should do the trick.

Steam clean it, Resolve it, then Febreeze. You should be fine after that.

Take the carpet out.
Get hold of a high pressure hose and some sort of carpet cleaner or even clothing detergent.
Scrub and scrub with a brush... then high pressure that baby!!
Repeat if necessary.
A little odouriser after you let it dry completely...

(PS the main step is taking the carpet out.. you WILL NOT be able to get the smell out trying to clean it with the carpet still in the car, trust me, I detailed cars for 3 years )

Pet stain remover... this **** will take out ANYTHING!!!

I've spilled everything on carpet, like WD40 (don't ask) and Nitro Fuel (for gas powered RC cars) which is not cool on white carpet like i spilled it on a few times in my room.

Really... use some good pet stain remover.. if it can take out that RC fuel, it will take anything out, and should get the odour out too. It always got that alcohol/oil/fuel smell out for me.

I suggest leaving a window open a crack overnight too.. let it air out.

That baby formula has no doubt soaked through the carpet to the the underlay and floorpan... Take the carpet out.. Steamcleaning will not suck it all up.. Sure its a bit more work.. but it will be your best chance at cleaning it all up and never having that smell again on a hot summers day.

Leave the doors open on a hot day... it should air out alot of the smell.
