under bumper impact beams removal

I'm going to be removing the under bumper impact beams from a 89 camaro that will mostly be seeing the dragstrip. I was wondering if anyone has done this and can give tips or any info on this so i can have an idea to what i will be getting into.

I am also considering taking out the impact beams in the doors aswell.

Any tips/info would be great, thanks.

tip: dont hit anything.

lol, seriously though i wouldnt consider it a worth wild mod unless this is a strip ONLY car and it already had all the other weight reduction mods done.

and i would NOT remove the door beams.. it stiffens the door up alot, and the door DOES stiffent the car chassis alot.. even if you already have SFCs it does help...

in my opinion anyway, you're better off just making 5 more HP and leaving them on.

thanks for the tip

I've got a few weight reduction mods done so far, lightweight racing seats will come in the next week or so, converting to manual steering from s-10, fiberglass hood to come, and etc.

I heard taking off the under bumper impact beam can take off as much as 50 lbs.(?) from the front end, so it caught my attention.
