After 25 years of driving, I whacked my 90 IROC Conv backing out of the garage. I was distracted by a very hot blonde standing behind the car and turned the wheel before I cleared the entrance. Well at least I didn't run HER over too! We had a good time anyway.
this is the original paint. I dont trust body shops. I may have to do it myself. I do not want after market metal either.
Any suggestions?

yeah, tell me about it; i sat my old y-pipe against the garage wall, started the car up with open headers and the y-pipe fell against my passengers rear quarter panel. i need new paint anyway.
might want to ask thirdgen resource or hawks for a stock used red fender.

nah you don't have to repaint the whole thing, unless you just like wasting money. i don't know how hard it'd be to do it yourself, but bodyshops are real good about matchin color...even if the new red is a little off, they blend it in to the surrounding area so you can't tell. if you took a pic of the left side, and the right side and looked at them next to eachother, you might be able to see a difference, but very very slight, but just looking at the car you couldn't tell.
reason i know, i was headin to a body shop to get a paint estimate the other day and almost got nailed by a car. so i was joking with the paint guy bout how i almost got a free paint job, but he explained that they never repaint the whole car if only one section is damaged, cause they can make it look brand new just painting that panel, then went on to explain how they blend it etc etcmight

I can't really tell from the pic but it looks like a pretty big dent. I would just buy a new GM fender if you don't want aftermarket and then have a body shop paint it. Why don't you trust body shops? Go to a well known, respectable body shop and they will fix it right. Do you actually hope to make it look good if you haven't done anything like this yourself before? Especially when trying to match that red and blend it out. Good luck.

I bet that really impressed the chick
At least you just barely missed the nose, so you only have to replace the fender and side marker.

I would replace the fender with a gm one. Aftermarket ones dont line up right sometimes.

you aren't gonna be able to save that fender. get a new gm one or a mint fender off another iroc and take it to a reputable body shop in the area and have them paint it. If it's the original paint, it's gonna be a pain to match. could be worse.....could've been a rear quarter panel. that would be a PITA.

Mine was like that... But when I pulled out the old fender, the bumper went back to it's normal shape.
But that fender cant be saved unless you wanna shell out cash.
One thing that baffles me. No matter how bad a fender gets whacked, the parking lamp never cracks... Why dont they just make the whole car out of that stuff?
