Anyone use one of these from a Silverado, Yukon, etc.? If so, what's the wiring set-up?

I was able to grab one from a Buick Roadmaster wagone--but it only has the digital compass in it. I think it has 4 wires in it. Is that the same setup you have--4 wires?

I haven't yet snagged one. I'd like to know the wiring scheme beforehand.

it's been over a year since I installed it--but I think 1 is ground, 1 constant hot(for compass), 1 key hot and I think the other is hooked to the dome light--for them(map lights) to come on when the door is open.

I was going to snag one off of a Roadmaster but changed my mind after I followed the fourth wire. I figured out the ground, power leads, but another wire followed the center door pillar, down under the carpet into a tee type set up. I figured it went to sensors or something like that.
Didn't want to spend the time to follow through on it though.

Diggler,

Where'd you splice into the aux power?

the green wire more than likely goes to your backup lights, when your in reverse the self dimmer does not work. I have been using ones from Rivieras for years now. Mine were only 3 wires

Black - ground
Green - reverse lights
red - switched power. ( I think it was red )

As a note: the units for the self dimming portion is all self contained. The compass that I have for my overhead console is self contained. an outside temp (OAT) sensor has a senser under the hood usually just behind the grill...

If you look at the mirror, there is a sensor on the front and one in the rear (mirror side) to tell it when to dim and not...

John

i ran all the wires under the headliner, under the pillar next to the windshield, then down under the passenger panel. i used the same aux and power as my stereo uses, since they were the easiest to get to.

I checked out **** mirrors (from Summit). The dimensions seem a bit large: 10 L by 3 1/2 H. Does the latter dimension cause any problems with road visibility?
