Stripped Bolts

I removed all my seatbelts just fine, except the two front torque bolts on the passenger side are completly stripped. So I cut them up to get the seat belts out.

Now I have the carpet removed and everything, but there are still bolts stuck in the holes making it impossible to put new seatbelts in.

I need some serious advice here.

Sorry about the picture quality, hopefully you can understand what I am describing.

Best bet is to just cut them. Go slow with a cutting tool or a dremel. It will take you a while but they will finally come off.

Flood it with penetrate for a coupe of days, then give it another try. If necessary, have someone weld a nut to the stub (wouldn't take a sec) so that you can use a socket.

craftsman sells a set of easy-outs that fit on the outside of a bolt/stud like a socket. Maybe worth a try. I like to give stuck bolts a dose of the Universal Bolt Remover, aka a swift rap with the ballpien. if you don't go too crazy and damage things, it can really do the job

The front seatbelt on the tranny tunnel has a plate behind the bolt. You Might beable to turn that plate if it isnt tack welded on.
You could possibly gring the bolt head square and use a adjustable wrench to turn it. Use a dremel with a steel cutting aruger.
I know for sure the rear seatbelts on the driveshaft tunnel are held on with a big nut. The the seatbelt retractor is bolted onto the frame, so if its stuck your gonna have a hard time with it.

3 options.

1.. attempt to turn it as is...
..........put a pair of vice grips on it
..........cut a slit and use a tool.
..........drill it out and use a easy out.
..........flatten two edges and put a wrench on it
..........weld a nut and turn
2. break whats bonding it to itself
..........soak in oil
..........heat with torch
..........smack it with a hammer or impact.
3. cut it out.
..........drill a hole oversize until its nothing but the threads.. then run a tap thru it.
.......... cut the head off and slide it out the other way.
.......... cut out around it

if its stuck in there, what i would do is take a chisel and a hammer and smoke the side of the bolt so it slowly unthreads and comes out. get your buddy with a welder to weld a nut to the top of the stripped bolt and just use a wrench to get it out. or i would cut the bolt flush, and drill a hole in it. you can buy these things that are hexed so you can put a wrench on them. i cant remember what their called, but their like long skinny tapered bolts that have a large backwards thread on them and they slide into the hole you drilled into the bolt and you use a wrench to unbolt them. thats almost the best i can do do describe how to do it. hope this helps.

Thanks a lot.

You have no idea how much I appreciated your input. This was the tiniest of problems, but was holding up my project.
