cowl hood

i have an 82 t/a with the power bulge hood(cowl on drivers side)
I am converting to carb from tbi and because of a different intake manifold, my stock hood will not give me enough clearance.
Does anyone suggest an aftermarket 2 -3'' cowl induction hood taht will fit my 82 t/a?

IMO A RAI or RA II hood would look better than the cowl hoods. Personally on Trans-AM's I hate those things. They look out of place. On Camaros they fit the lines better. You can get them from Hawk's or from the Ram Air Hood page links at the top of the site. They sell the cowl hoods on some of the sites above too.

I am pretty sure there is a lower clearance intake manifold so you can keep your carb and stock hood.

Just another route you can go. Hope this helps.

Myself I have an 88 trans am and I am going with this 2" cowl instead of the ram air! This cowl actually keeps the factory body lines!!!:lala: :lala: :hail: :hail: www.usbody.com

He replaced the complete front clip when he wrecked it. I tried to get him to remove the red/grey graphix at the bottom but he didnt want to at the time. Now he does..

thanks guys, i guess the cowl hoods look sorta out of place in the trans ams compared to the square blocklike camaros.
But i want to know if there is a ram air hood) fresh air from front) but also with a cowl type rear( opened up slot near windshield so cool air can get in from the "low pressure zone", and should have the tunnel high enough (1 - 2'' higher than stock hood) for my open element to
sit in comfortably.

My buddies can be openeed up front and rear to work well like you want. Just a little work with a cut off wheel and a dremal. Actually easy work man.

Hey 89frmla350 whats up with your front nose. There's a big gap between it and the hood.

Thats my old 88 TA that I wrecked about 3 months ago. It was a regular firebird and I switched it to Trans Am. The nose I got off my buddys car and he had one of those knightrider lights on it so it wasnt my decision to have a big gap there. Now its on my 87 firebird and looks great, no gaps this time.
