Squeeks, and creaks Part 378 Turbo revenge :)
Hi guys.
I know this has been covered ayt least once before as I did the searches. Thing is a lot of questions are unanswered.
I found a source of one of the most annoying screeches on my car was due to the rubber bump stops for the hood weren't high enough, so it was a metallic screech. That was a great find and easy to solve. Another was due to a broken clip that holds the A pillar trim in place. Amazing what a racket that made....
I'm down to my final 2 now. One I suspect is the cargo blind and the other is outside and is metal on metal when going over bumps, sounds like something is going to fall off
There is also the noise when going up driveways- like a wooden boat. Bear in mind I have SFC's. Any ideas on this?
So share you finds and observations.... Let's learn from this post.
Cheers,
Felix

Are the sfc's welded in or bolted in, if they are bolted than there is one noise you have.
Have u replaced your bushings under the car, also check if the end links are tight and the a frame hole hasn't streched.

Check your side mirrors. Sometimes they need to be retightened. My car used to make a sharp noise every time I hit a mean bump until I retightened them!
I have an '86 Iroc that was having a squeaking problem. It was metal on metal, by the sound of it. It would squeak on both smooth and rough roads. Really drove me crazy....anyways, I got underneath the rear of the car and noticed the track bar was loose, thought nothing of it and then purchased some weld-on SFC to try and cure the squeak. Before having them put on, I had my friend Mike, at Meineke, look at it and he confirmed it was the track bar. I bought a new one, $37 at Advance Auto, and had it replaced. Viola! Now she is squeak free. Give that a try. The track bar is also referred to the Panhard rod. Hope this helps. Still might have the SFC put on.....

Hi 53limalima, couldn't you have just tightened the panhard rod instead of buying a new one?
Definitely get those sfc's on there!!

Yeah, I tried to tighten it myself but it just wouldn't budge. I was pricing replacement bushings but with the cost of $11 each I figured I might as well splurge on the extra $15 for the whole thing; almost certain that was the original track bar.

If it is sort of like a popping noise, then it is the upper-strut mounts. There is a bearing in there, and they go dry. You can find the moog replacements for ~$150-$170.
