pro stockl style wing

how do you guys think a pro stock style wing would look like on a thirdgen? i personally love the laid back sleek high performance look they have but dont know how to make one to work on my maro. i am pretty decent at fabricating but i need ideas on how to make it look good and actually fit the car and be able to open the hatch.

It would look ok, but the rest of the car has to work with it too... meaning wheels, tires, and the rest of the body.

i was thinking about that. like a mini aero scoop and some kickass custom ground effects not to mention the performance aspects.

That one is I can't find the web site anymore. I think I came across it from someone here when I was looking for the different rear spoilers. Try doing a search. Here is another pic of it.

Unless you really need it I believe it is a waste!! Looks r*cey if its just there for apperance! If you are making a real drag car like it seems to be in the pictures it fits, but other wise it looks tacky as hell!! just my $.02

Unless your car is having stability issues when going 200mph through the traps, it's just pure, undeniable Uncle Ben's r*ce. "Looks" fast. Your car isn't having problems with stability at 200mph, is it?

no but i want to give my car a better appearance. i want a different spoiler and i dont really want any of the ones i have seen. the only other one i would think about is the wrap around firebird one.

It's unnecessary. Go with the Firebird wraparound one....

I dont see why ya want to change it?? Nothing beats a 3 piece deck lid spoiler on a Camaro!! It is clean looking yet does not look to over done.

Don't turn this into CARtural diversity now...

If your car is your own personal expression...then this is the equivalent of nipple chains...IN PUBLIC

So..... you saying that public showing of the chains is bad(makes mental note) . I'd have to agree with the other dudes unless your getting loose cause you haulin' I wouldn't do it. I mean it looks cool but imagine everytime you open the hatch you'd have to reinsert the metal rod pieces(look at the pic there are two rods with a hair pin keeping them in the correct position). But thats just my opinion cause if I listened to other people I wouldn't do 80% of the stuff that I do.

200mph? thats a bit much... Just saw a third gen weds night at etown ran a 7.45 @ 187mph.. had that wing... the only time a wing is acceptable... If you are gunna look pro street... run pro street... Tub the wells, 6inch cowl, plexi glass windows, bolt down hood, wheelie bars... 300+ progressive nitrous.

That wing is one of the ideas I've been thinking about building for a salt flat racer look. Even the guys running 150+ out there are using those for the reduced drag they offer, while still reducing high speed lift. Hummmmmmm

how do they reduce drag? i thought the back of the car was more or less a vaccuum/low pressure area...no?

ontogenesis, I would assume it smoothes out the airflow and makes it less turbulant.

why does it matter if it's turbulent once it's behind the car though?

Basicly what happens is a low pressure area is created behind just about anything that moves through the air. The low pressure area will to a certain degree slow the car down. One thing turbulant air will do is keep the air from joining back together smoothly at the back of the car and thus create a bigger low pressure area.
