Stripe Install Question
Tonight or tomarrow my heritage stripes should arrive.
Im guessing they come with instructions, but I'd trust people who have done it before crappy instructions. they are Vinyl Heritage stripes.
What is the best way to install them. How about sparying down a lil soapy water, getting them in the rite spot, squeegying (is that a word) out the soapy water from underneat and let dry
How long should I let it dry? any other hints/tips/tricks.

Use a spray bottle filled with MILDLY soapy water(ie only a few drops will do) Spray down the area and the back of the stripe. This will allow you to reposition the stripes where you want them. When they are perfect, use a squegee to get all of the water out. Not too tricky, but if the decals were expensive I would reccomend a professional.

Paint them on! Well guess thats not an option since you all ready ordered them. A body shop should be able to do it or a graphics shop that does vinyl signs etc.

most vinyl shops or sign shops won't install unless you bought the item from them, but being that i doubt they could make these to scale properly without a lot of measuring, i'd ask them just in case. they typically won't guarantee their work either since it's not "their vinyl so they have no idea on the quality of it"......can you tell i've been around sign shops? my friend's in laws own one and they say this to customer's all the time. i wave the
but it's their shop.

Take your time and use the soapy water mentioned b4. My dad has a 4th gen with stripes over the top of the car and the aftermarket side feathers almost like the ones on the anniv. model.Me and ym father did this by ourselves in a tiny garage, it took all night and you can just about take a ruler to it its so perfectly dead on! By the way im just 16 and im still learning so if we f**ked, it aint my car.
But seriously, take your time..shouldnt be to bad to do it yourself.

Putting vinyl stripes on the hood is easy. Prior to placing the stripes on, Double/ triple check your measurements. Once the vinyl stripes are dry, removing it would take a heat gun. Just make sure you apply enough mixture of soap and water onto the hood and vinyl. Place the vinyl on the hood and step back and check to make sure it is straight. This is why you want to apply a lot of the mixture on the hood so you can move the vinyl encase you need to move the vinyl again. The hardest part to do would be the rear spoiler. Just make sure you apply a lot of the mixture for the spoiler area.

OK....I'm a proffesional!!! I've worked in a Sign shop for 5 years.
Yeah, most places won't guarantee the work.... .....we wouldn't even touch it.
If you're gonna use soap, go VERY light on the soap. We use 1 drop for a half gallon of water. Too much soap makes it super easy to put on, but you'll NEVER get it to stick. Especially the thin accent trim around the main stripes.
I would contact a vinyl sign shop and tell them what you're doing. Ask them if they could spare some "Right-on". That's a brand name of "application fluid". VERY helpful. Smells good too...kinda like cookie dough.
....and last but not least, once the stripe is down, and you still have the "mask" paper on the stripe, spray it down with water. It'll help loosen up the masking paper.
Or you could do it dry. I would..........but not if I were you!!! HA!
You'll get little tiny fluid bubbles with the fluid, that's why dry applications are the best, but they take PRACTICE!!!! Oh, and just let the bubbles settle out in the sun. They WILL settle.
Hope it helps!

Hold the phone! I put down my heritage stripes on my 92 Z28. It is hard if you have a Z28 hood, but still doable. If you have the RS hood, it should be a lot easier. As long as you take your time, you will be fine.
I got mine from pheonix graphics, and they look great. It's licnesed by GM, so the stripes are spot on. The perimeter stripe is pre cut and pre positioned on the paper stripe "body". The distance between the two stripes is also p[re determined on the paper stripe "body". This is a very nice feature and makes for a clean install. They come with instructions, but here are a few pointers.
1. Spray saopy water on the car and the back of the stripes.
2. Once the stripes are in place, squeegy them, ALOT. The more squeegying you do, the less bubbles you will have to deal with later. Start in the middle, and work the squeegy out to the perimeter. Don't got from side to side, or top to bottom. Start in the middle and work your way out.
3. Let them dry for AT LEAST 3 hours before you remove the paper body covering the stripes. Don't do what I did and get excited and pull of the paper too early. You will just f*ck them up and have to buy another set like I did. (very expensive
)
4. Be patient and take your time, you will be fine.
If you have any more questions, you can always email me.
