is the hood a stock hood?

if not, then the struts aren't strong enough, most likely

Did you get used struts? You should be beat up on the playground if you did.

I'm just messing around, but yeah, don't buy used struts for the hood or hatch. Just spend the extra 10 bucks or whatever and get new ones from AutoZone or a similar store.

If the hood isn't stock, you might need to get a bit stronger strut. Check the handy guide next to the struts display in your local store. Also, be sure you didn't grab the wrong one if you bought them new. There's a little letter in the beginning of the product code, i accidently got the wrong struts for my hatch once because of that. They were like E517 and I picked up the A517 (numbers are just for example).

You may have gotten the struts for the fiberglass hood by mistake.

it is a stock hood. im not sure if it makes much difference, but i think it has more paint on it than it should. it spent alot of time in a body shop. they would tell me the car was done, and i would look at it an tell them it looked bad. (black) so i think they kept painting over it rather than sanding it down. i got mine from car quest, which i personally wont shop at anymore due to personal reasons. (poor products) i dont have an auto zone here, we have schucks and napa. ill look into these links on the page. thanks

You should be able to find them at Napa, and they're a pretty reputable place. CarQuest is a joke; they usually supply parts to cheap garage places in their local area. The paint won't affect the weight so much as to make the struts useless. And if they just painted over and over again with your hood, don't expect it to last very long. If it starts chipping, bring it back again or get a lawyer. I hate pisspoor jobs and shops that don't care!

im in an area of the world where quality doesnt exist, so i take care of the paint as best i can. when i am done with the engine tranny and suspension i am going to find a real painter, strip the car, and start over.
