i think the rollbar looks great but i have two questions. did you cut around the rollbar for the carpet to fit. if ya didnt i would take it back and charge the person who did for a new carpet. the holes looks really crooked and a little big. my second question is are those toggles infront of the shifter hard to get to. don't you have to manuver your way around the shifter to get to the one on the passenger side? just curious.

Is that bar legal for anything? It sure isn't NHRA legal, so I'm guessing maybe SCCA?

Bar is nice..but why no door bars?Just curious..that is what really ties a unibody car together besides a set of subframes. On another note..what size are these gauges?

those are 2 1/16" autometer sportcomp guages. the bar is not legal for anything other than looking cool right now. i bought the jegs 12pt cage and the halo hung too low for my liking (ie, i hit my head on it while i sat straight up) no door bars to make it easier for the ladies to get into
(it is also a daily driven car). the real reason is that when i do go to fabricate the rest of the bar, i am going to put those in, makes it easier for location on the floor. it already has a set of subframe connectors so that is for the most part, taken care of. the bar also makes it legal to go faster than 12.99 (i think, can't remember) since it is a t-top car and they changed the rule for t-top cars, right? or something. the carpet, well, that's my hack job. i put this cage in and everything by myself with a little welding help from my dad (ie, i cut and notched everything and then tacked them in place and he welded) overall i am extremely pleased with the way it turned out. the toggle switches, well, i think those may get repositioned. he one on the passengers side is a bit hard to get to, since they were mounted side ways. i just wanted to get them in the car. i was tired of cutting and fabricating so i skipped notching the plastic underneath for clearance on those switches so they could face forward, does that make sense?

Looks a lot like the roll bar setup I made for my car last spring.
I had to notch out a ****load of plastic pieces. Some of mine still not completely in right I'm gonna fix them this winter.
That X brace will help cornering a lot. I did mine that way after talking to Steve Spohn about it.
That won't be legal till you get the side bars and halo in I think. Roll bar and Roll cages have different size tubing. If I remember right 1 5/8 for cages and 1 3/4 for bars.

There hasn't been an official rule made for t-top cars yet, but when it comes, it'll require a 6 point bar, which yours isn't. Your car won't be legal to go any faster than it was without the bar.

actually, that is a six point bar, if your talking about a bar with door bars, that's an eight point. i'm not really worried about it right now, it looks cool and i guess that's all that matters, i will put the door bars in later, with the halo. don't plan on running any faster than 13.00's right now, the motor is just a hossed out 305. 9.5-10:1 compression,4340 forged rods, crane blue racer cam .442i, .465e with 215*/225* duration, crane roller rockers,a torker II intake (will be replaced with a dual plane soon, a 600vs. 700r4 and 3.73 posi out back.
the reason i bought the cage was because i was planning on staying at home for another two years. i already had a procharged 355 planned out (actually, i already have some of the parts here!) when my parents were called to the missions field *drag racing ministry, yeah!* they decided to buy a motor home and get the heck outta dodge, so, i had this rollcage in the garage taking up space. and a car that wasn't going anywhere and a 305 sitting in the corning, dying for a rebuild. the cheapest way was to build the 305 to get me a car that was running and reliable before they leave. the motor is getting put together tomorrow(finally!!!). when we went to put the cage in, the portion that is shown was already put together. i mocked up the halo, and well, i hit my head on it in normal driving position. that just wouldn't work, we are saving the rest of the tubing and i am going to have Pat Budd of Budd performance up in NY bend me a tube that goes from the main hoop all the way to the a-pillar, then down behind the dash to the floor. i gotta get my car up there first though. don't worry, it will be legal up to 7.99 within the next year.
jim85iroc, why do you sound so arrogant when you say that? can't you just say it and go on, and maybe even comment on how nice it turned out for an 18yearold who never welded before in his life...
fireturd350, nice bar, your right, it does look similar...
heck, maybe i WILL put on some big rims *17x9.5's our back and 17x8 up front, put good springs on it and do some road racing.

basically you are keeping it the way it is right? so you have x-ed the 355 build up correct? then why did you p ut this bar in purely for looks? i am not intending on "flaming" you but i dont really see the point. if its for looks i dont th ink its worth it for two reasons, one being you lost the functioning of your backseats, and two its just looks unfinished. i know you said you are finishing it up within the year but still, i dont understand, iam sorry. it does look good, SO FAR.
