jacking car up
So today I'm on my way home from school on the parkway when, outta no where my tire blew. I pulled over and jacked my car up and put the spare on. I noticed that where the jack had been hold is now bent. Did I do something wrong? I looked in my manual before I jacked it up and did it exactly how they said to. I don't get it...

at home i only lift mine under the rear end or under the a-arms at work we have a very expensive pinchweld lift that i like a whole lot and that is the only time i will lift from the pinch welds

if it's bent then you jacked in the wrong spot. To change a front tire you should be jacking toward the back of the front subframe assembly, and for the back you should be jacking where the lower control arm bolts to the chassis.
Jim, that's where I use and have had no problems. However, I have to agree with 90v6. If you look in the manual, it says to use the noticeable jacking points on the front and rear. I tried using the front one and it started buckling over...LOL.

i haven't ever even looked at the jack included with the car i have one that i found in a junkyard that works awesome for roadside emergencies as it accomodates a socket wrench and folds flat enough to get under prettymuch anything and it fits in my toolbox can't remember what it cam from but next time i go home i'll find it and take a pic of it for you guys

u must have put in right beside the fender, where they told u to in the book. putting it on the subframe is the best place

At this point in the game, I think most of us had better be able to jack up the car without damage, but I think that there is some misinformation out there as to where it's safe to put the jack.
I typically like to jack up the front from the bottom of the oil pan.

I think I read on here that subframe connectors make for good jacking points. If you don't have some you should get some installed and while your at it you can get some for me too

I've jacked mine up plenty of times from the listed spots on the labels under the rail with no problems or buckling. Even at 0430 in the morning on a Texas highway with a drivers side rear flat. A little hint for those of you with a key lock. Put a piece of reflective tape on the "key" for when you drop it in the dark.
Anyhoo.....
I took off my plastic trim (ground effects) today. Both sides along the bottom of the door and under the door sill from fender well to fender well in order to get it ready for painting.
I noticed that a previous owner had indeed jacked the car too far "outside" and "forward" of the designated point and buckled the fender bottom. It doesn't show with the trim pieces in place but I know it is there and I will probably try and fix it next week.

I was removing undercoating from my car yesterday and you can see where I used the lift. I have also jacked the car up in my garage at these same locations and the buckling occured. i thought I did something wrong also, but the box "frame" isn't strong enough for the small headed jack to support the weight.

I agree that the recommended jacking points are stupid. First time I was going to try jacking my car, I noticed that the previous owner had jacked it in those pinchweld spots and they were all bent up. So I never used them.
I also jack under the rear axle or front A-arms. Now I have subframes and can jack from them too.
