Need your help identifying and locating a trim piece!
Need your help identifying and locating a trim piece!
I need the piece of plastic trim that is located on the roof of T-Top cars between the T-Tops and the hatch. It runs the width of the car, and is held in by 4 screws. The plastic where 2 of the screws go in is broken, so its loose and rattles like you would not believe! If anyone knows where I can get a replacement part I would appreciate it.
Thanks!

Good luck, I haven't been able to find one that wasn't cracked around the holes.

Try looking in a junkyard, I have found several that were in excellent shape for just a few dollars. Of course this depends upon the junkyard and how valuable they think these parts are. Parts from a pontiac firebird/trans-am will fit in a camaro. If the colors don't match, use some krylon fusion plastic paint to color it.

Yeah, I was looking for a similar piece... I managed to snag a brand new GM one in black. I think one of our sponsors sells them new, in black (paint to match).
You can also repair the holes, with epoxy or something similar.
This is the piece:

I had the part number... hang on one second.
Ok, on my ORIGINAL one, the PT. NO. is 20235800. On the aftermarket one (which I believe the black one it), the PT. NO. is 10125185. (I assume this is the aftermarket # because also on the piece, it reads "service numer 20235800).
Timz - if you can snag a PERFECT one (no busted holes) in grey for me, that'd be great - I'd pay you for it. Thanks.

Call any GM dealer. They are still available, and only like $40 or so. I just called my local chevy dealer and gave them the number on the back of my old one. They couldn't tell me what color I would be getting, it was kind of a grab bag kind of thing, but it is the right piece none the less. Turned out to be the right color just by chance, and it's BRAND NEW!
I found the parts for the birds in my parts book....here are the #'s I came up with...
1982-1990 PN: 20540648 sells for $31.17 from GMPD
1991-1992 PN: 10125186 N/A @ GMPD
Both parts are paint to match.
Another place you can check is this website:

I just went to the Chev dealer and ordered one up.. it came in a navy blue color, so I just had it color matched to my interior.. Looks great.

Re: Need your help identifying and locating a trim piece!
As with a lot of old and even some new parts, the part numbers have changed. so if you are looking at an old IPC (illustrated parts catalog) and find a part number it is probably not the same today. Go to the parts department at your local chevrolet dealership and have them bring it up on their computer. Yes the little screws are available at almost any auto parts store and at auto body supply stores.

I am not sure if they are available from the dealership anymore, but I definitely saw it on Hawks not too long ago.
