I believe that all subjects have been covered on this board, and therefore I will post to each and every topic with "Use the search."

Seriously though, searching for "camaro firebird conversion" or something along those lines will bring up half the threads ever created on this board. If you know a specific thread where he could find some info, give him a hand.

I put a camaro quarter panel on my drivers side rear. cant really say its gonna work other wise i`ll have 1 camaro tail light and 1 fire bird light. It would be too much work turning a camaro into a firebird when they both cost the same amount of money to buy.
seems like alot of work for nothin, just my thought.

i allredy have a firebird, but i cant register a firebird in mexico because it is an sport car, so that why I want to buy a camaro and register it in mexico, and then make it look like a firebird.
And I can't buy a mexican firebird becose a 3rth genrtstion firebird in good shape cost like 6.000 dollars here in mexico.

sorry about all my replys im kind off slow lol.

Also you would have to kill somebody in rder to buy a goodshape firebird in mexico, becose those are really exotic cars here.

the fire I own is american it have lisence plates from arizona, and you can't drive an american car if you are mexican, they take the car aout to a junkyard and they never give it back to you lol, so i never drive my bird it is on my garage getting old.

Firebirds are sport cars, yet Camaro's aren't?

You need to talk to the local DMV or whatever you have...because you're getting some bogus info.

So, PILU, let me see if I understand this correctly...

If you are a native Mexican in Mexico....you can't drive a foreign car? They take it from you and don't give it back?

But what about the VW's that are still down in Mexico? Even though it is a German design, it is okay because it was made in a Guatemalan factory?

Wild. If we did that in America, there would be no competition for the "big three" to improve thier products and we would all be talking about our Pintos, Pacers, and Matadors.

He is talking about cars that aren't imported properly. Not cars that are foriegn makes that sold in Mexico to begin with. Mexico has some weird rules about what cars you can and can't import that weren't intended for the Mexican market....like certain models won't pass, or certain years or you have to wait for a while before a certain model and year pass. He said his car was originally from Arizona, so he has it in Mexico illegally, if they catch him driving it they'd impound it because it shouldn't be in Mexico. Hey Pilu where in Mexico are you from? I know a guy who has a Firebird in Guadalajara.

Wow. That's really wild. You can bring anything from Mexico and drive it here in CA.

Driving it is different than importing it. There are permits you can get to temporarily drive a car in Mexico, that isn't a problem, but that isn't legally importing it. You can't import a car meant for the Mexican market into the U.S., you can drive it it in the U.S., just not import it. They may not comply with smog and crash standars etc, plus the speedo is in KMH =) There is an exception though, those cars that were once American then imported for use in Mexico can be re-imported for use in the U.S. again.....oh and as for converting a Camaro to a Firebird...its harder than it seems, sure a lot of parts are interchangable, but the front ends are significantly different. It can be done, but it will take too much time and money, that like people have said here, you're better off buying the car you intend to want.

Yep, all what SC82TA said is right. there are alot of foreing cars driving legally around.

I live in Nogales Sonora mexico that is the border of Nogales AZ.

Maybe my car isn't impound yet becouse there is alot of cars wih arizona and california plates driving around, but still I,m taking a huge chance of it getting impound, I guess waht I'll have to do is get another car car and keep my bird safe until the laws change. I heard that in 2004 we will be able to import cars from all the years because of the free trade treaty betwin mexico and USA, but still dont't know if sport and luxury cars will pass.

just move to a real country like the U.S.A. This is exactly why texas is part of the U.S. and not Mexico. Some people just dont like being pushed around.

Aww man we've got enough illegals here.. you'd blend right in.. just don't get a job cuz then I'd have to hunt you down. Seeing employed illegals and sitting in the unemployment bleachers is starting to rattle my nerves

is that to say a fat american chic will marry just about anybody? You'd have a hard time getting her to fit in a Firebird.

american girls love mexicans and a fat girl would be desperate. oh and open the hatch and have her set back there. i saw a camaro driving with a couch hanging out the open hatch so a fat chic shouldnt be a problem.

Once my girlfriend and her friend thought it would be cool to sit back there in the trunk with the hatch open, when I started driving the wind pushed the hatch down on their heads. I'm Spanish so that doesn't really count as Mexican but my ex was kinda big, she broke her seatbelt cause she couldn't get it around her and she forced it.

Even if you converted it to "look" like a camaro... the VIN would still read it as a Pontiac..?

lol, its not a bad idea , to marry with some chick, I heard that if I marry with an american you receive the emigration in like 3 moths lol.
anyway I can't do that because nextmoth I go dental school here in mexico (iTS free ) And i dont think i can affort to pay it in the States.

Paul, what I was thinkin' on doing is get a camaro and make it look like a firebird, so thay way I would be drivin' a camaro legally but it would look like a bird.

PILU, just put the 'bird stickers on the sail panel and on the hood.

The police would never know the difference.

They "see" the 'bird so it must be a bird.

Comprende?

Jim.
