I recommend 4th gen seats

To everyone who is thinking about doing the swap, just do it. I got a new interior out of a late model camaro 1998 i believe. And the difference is insane. The seats are wayyyyyyy more comfy, have more options, like the fancy tilts and such, They are practically full racing bucket seats. and the BEST thing is.. Its a direct bolt right in. Pull the old out, put the new in. Literally a 5 minute job. Dont wait any longer, just go for it. the only change is the back seat has two locks, and for my camaro i only needed one.

And for $50 at a yard, (Engine fire) you can't beat that price for 2 front seats, 2 rear, and the single back piece, A couple of water stains, but nothing that won't shampoo out.

Happy hunting

That's an awesome deal you got. I paid $200 for my cloth ones from a 98 camaro back in late 01. They were for my 92 rs though, not this one. They make a huge difference in how they look and feel. Much more comfortable

I'm doin this swap! I'm payin $500 for the front and rears. they are dark grey leather ones from a 2002 Camaro SS. The drivers seat is power also. Now how much of a bolt up is the power seat??? I want power and I will do whatever I have to get it working!

the power will be easy or medium difficulty - depending on if you had power seats before.

Underneath the carpet on ALL power-seat cars and SOME non-power seat cars are a power and ground wire specifically meant for the seats. You just tie into these 2 wires and put a fuse on your power wire. It's that simple.

If you don't have these wires - the electronic board might be a good idea for you. Those guys can instruct on the proper non-ghetto way to tie into you vehicle's 12V DC.

Mine were so cheap cause I caught the guy on a busy day and he didn't look the seats over. They had pieces of plastic glued to the cloth, engine fire melted the consol. I went home took a brush got off all of the pieces of junk, and went to walmart bought some interior cleaner, and cleaned them right up. Then I went out and bought some seat covers so I wouldn't ruin the seats when I was fiddling with stuff. So yes I have seat covers but they are for protection not for hiding. :lala:

I had power seats before and the wires and plug are still there...so from the sounds of it its pretty easy!

I used to drive a 88ta, and the diffence in seat quality is quite impressive.

I paid $220 shipped to my door for cloth seats from a 94 Z28, I love them. Way more comfortable, and look a heck of alot better than the torn up old grey seats.

It is pretty much the same seat, but the thirdgen seats are usually worn out pretty bad by the time you change them out. I think the 4th gen seats also use a little firmer buns. That's why mine made such a difference, my old ones were pretty ragged after 185,000 miles

maybe because my 4th gens are well worn too. i dont like how i cant ever get the seats "right" it always feels funny and when i tilt it up to where im happy i can barely get my foot on the brake because of the steering wheel.

I have stock leather seats in my car, and I like how they look quite a bit. But they're awfully stiff and rather uncomfortable. I don't know how they felt new, as I was in the fourth grade in 1991, but I can't imagine they were this rigid.

I've tried a few leather cleaners and such, without any discernible results. I'm beginning to think getting 4th gen seats are my only option if I want a more comfortable ride!

I Must be crazy then,.......... I put ThirdGen Trans Am Seats into my 95 Z this Spring !!

I'm just a sucker for the 18 Way-adjustable seats !!

It will only be temporary however as I recently bought a set of "flame red" seats and panels from another 95Z that will be installed next season. While the "flame" seats are installed I will get these TA seats re-upholstered for re-installation into the Z in around 1-2 years.

Very nice, 1986tpiiroc! With seats that clean you don't even notice a few spots on your carpeting. Cars like yours and others posted here make me heavily consider looking into new seating. I can tell it makes a hell of a difference for the interior, both aestheically and comfort-wise.

The seats are from a 95 camaro, the guides are from the original seats. I was to lazy to change them.
The ones above on my 'bird (seats are from a 96 'bird) are original too but I turned those upside down.

I think the 4th Gen Seats are way more comfortable then the 3rd gen ones. That and mine have power drivers and lumbar.

I havnt seen too many 3rd gens with power seats, the ones ive sat in were basic, not like the 4th gens ive been in. I havent been in too many 3rd gen firebirds and the ones ive been in werent power anything, so I really couldnt say comfort level wise. Camaro seats at least 3rd gens seem really uncomfortable to me.
