The only thing I found useful was the pouch for holding the case containing my sunglasses/glasses. And the rear dome light. Never used the spools; rarely used the map light; and kept a more powerful flashlight in the car...
I sold a less than perfect one on eBay recently for $81, so...there are obviously some people who like them.

Got one and i love it (even got the original CAMARO flashlight too) i think it makes it feel like a cockpit more with stuff over your head. next is to put in some toggle switches for some cool stuff...

I think they're nifty, good concept, but I'd rather much have a HUD - like the GTP's got. THOSE are way cool. If I ever find a way to do it, it'll be a great lil' project... Overhead console...? Maybe if I got stuff I need to rig switches for...

I had one in my 85 Z-28 hard top. I liked it alright it, it helped the appearance.
I don't have one in my 87 Iroc-z. I don't want one either. I think it would look odd in a T-Top car.

I think theyre one of the BEST interior add-ons you can do. Definatley adds alot of character to the interior. Granted they might not be all that useful, theyre still really cool to have.

I got one in my 86 IROC, and think its awsome, nice to have! I dont have the flashlight though
, but I have a nice Mag light instead
. My 89 IROC does not have one but I have no problem without one, because I think the two reading/map lights on the rear view miror are handy too.

I got one in my car, have t-tops too, but no headliner. Mine came missing the flashlight.
Anyone got a pic of the flashlight that came with the firbirds/trans am's?
Those wheel things are only used for oil changes and remembering my girl friend's B-day.
The overhead consoles are semi rare? Didnt know that.

These things are the best addition or any Thirdgen OR Fourthgen car that has a regular light. The Map light is easily the best feature because it allows you to easily see the ashtrayat night. (& you can't tell it's on from outside the car.)
I even installed one in my 95 Z28 last summer,......... flashlight and all !
( I used a T-Top style console in the 95Z T-top car. I don't know if any console would work in a hardtop car !!)

the t-top version should work in all fourth gens since they are all t-top ready from the factory they only use a "skin" for a hardtop and all have the t-bar in place from the start

So third gen over head consoles fit in forth gen, pretty cool! Did forth gens ever come with overhead consoles though?

Fourth Gen Cars did NOT get a roof console from the factory.
I had to cut a small section of steel out of the t-top center bar in order for the back of the map light to have enough clearance to allow the console to be mounted. It was not a simple "Plug & Play" installation ! I'm guessing I put about 2-3 hours into installing it.

Are the hard top consoles a different shape than the t-top consoles? I bought one (marked as from an 85 camaro) from Thirdgen Resource for my 88 t-top and it doesn't fit well. The one I got seems to have more of a curve than the roof, I have to kind of bend one end up to get the screws at the dome light to catch. The console on the pool table in the picture at the top of trhis thread looks "flatter" than the one I got which supposedly is for a t-top.

I put one in mine when I redid the headliner. I think they look really cool, and I use it to track my oil changes and gas mileage. Comes in handy for me. I still need the dome light cover though, It's near impossible to find so if anyone has one email me.
The only thing I don't like is some of the choices on the console are goofy like "CELEBRATION" and "FINANCIAL" but hey I still think it's cool...

One came in my t-top car. I took it out to take out the badly decomposed remains of my headliner. I didn't replace the headliner yet and I don't know if I will re-install the console. I think the dials and the square bag look bad. I even have the flashlight! I think modifying it would work, but I don't know if I want to hack it up because it's got some value and I wanted to keep original parts w/ the car.
