A/C delete ?'s
So when i got my car i noticed the ac compressor is gone along with all the hoses. i don't mind not having air conditioning, so i removed the ac core (i guess you would call it). how can i get rid of the big space that it takes up right now? i know i could prolly just throw some sheetmetal over it, but there has to be a different model that came on non-ac cars right? and is there anything else i need to do when deleting my a/c? thanks!!

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sea...der=descending Here ya go, try doing a search for things. Most likely they have been discussed before.
I chopped off the big part that sticks out, cut sheetmetal to fit over the opening, fiberglassed it in place, and then sprayed the whole thing with rubber undercoating. Works great so far, I just need to reinstall the resistors for the blower motor so I have more settings than high

I have a sheetmetal A/C delete box with just a spot for the motor.
I believe that's the resistors for the blower motor. They regulate the voltage that the motor sees, so you get your low and medium settings. High is controlled by it's own circuit.

here is what i did. i took a piece of sheetmetal and riveted into place. i still need to do the hole for the blower motor but the ac compressor area is filled. i am ditching the heater and ac. i am planning on buying one of those under dash heating units so i can defrost the windows but thats it.

Looks like a very high quality piece, weighs about 5 lbs too

i did a little reading about it and it is very comparible to others so i figured why not. i got it new for 100 from jegs when they where being clearanced out. i havent tried it yet as the car isnt running. i am getting closer to finishing the motor though.

Can you cover the rectangular hole with sheetmetal and still install the blower motor and have heat (fabricating an enclosure that holds just eh blower motor and relocating the resistors)? Basically, is there a reason that the a/c delete box sticks out from the firewall where the A/C stuff used to be? It's tough to find an a/c delete box without massive rust and i figure it'd look better if it were just a bare firewall there anyway.

After my last post, I took a better look at how the system works. If you want to keep your blower motor functional at all, you can't cover over that rectangular hole. That's the point where air from the blower motor enters the passenger cabin. So pretty much, you need both holes in the firewall (circular and rectangular) to have any functionality If you're really looking for a bare bones no HVAC whatsoever system you can eliminate both holes. I have a very rusty A/C Delete box that i'm going to try to clean up and repaint. If anyone is selling one with little to no rust, let me know!

actually, at least in the northeast, the biggest problem is that any one you find in a junkyard will be severely rusted
