As some of you know my tires were stolen about 2 weeks ago. I got some tires and rims from my grandpa. He said that they came off of his 1957 Chevy Bel-air. They bolted right up to my 1984 Z-28. I wanted to post a picture of the rims. My g-pa said I could keep the rear "slicks" and rims if I wanted but I have to give the front tires back to him when he starts driving his 1957 he has been working on this car for like 15 years and he hasn't driven it in about 13 years. Let me know what you think about the rims. Does anyone know where I could find some matching rims for the front? I don't know where I can find them. What kind of tires should I get? Thanks for any and all input.

Thanks for your help Frank 84 Bird. I like the chrome rims. I wonder if that is what mine were before and got painted.

They are a bit striking at first. If you could at least paint them black it would look worlds better, but I suppose since they are your grandfather's that isn't really an option.

They don't look ugly, just a bit out of place.

yep those are chevy ralley rims same that the chevelle would run with centers and trim ring. the rim can be purchased new from any wheel supply house. cost is less than any custom wheel. it is a name brand wheel company that does all the oem stuff but i forget the name. you can get the trim and centers after market. they come black stock like an original steel rim. search ss chevelle and some 1 st gen camaros may have run them also. really is quite the common piece.

Those rims were available in 14x6 up to 15x8 from the factory. Painted silver was the finish. If my wheels got stolen i'd be more than happy to put those on to get my ride back on the street. Carry on brutha

For any of you that care. I don't plan on leaving the rims red unless that is what color I paint the car. I was thinking about it because I live in Columbus, Ohio and I figured being a true buckeye fan having a scarlet and grey car would show my loyalty. Anyways. Seeing as how I probably will not paint it I will have to change the color of the rims. My grandpa told me I could have the rear tires but I have to give back the front tires.

Anyone got any tips on how I can get the red paint off?

Camarogirl where did you get your rims from? Those are some nice rims.

Ya there is...I forgot the name of the stuff but I used it when I was getting paint off some bike wheels. You need to wear gloves while using it cuz its basically an acid. And I dont think you can use water with it or else it will ruin it....Im sure someone on this board can tell you what it is. But ya them red color rims look a bit out of place. Give us a pic when you repaint them!:lala:

Just to clarify... the tires are the rubber, the wheels are the metal. If you only have to give back the tires, I say keep them! They're definitely unique-looking. I kinda like them
