Doing 84 to 86 t/a cluster swap-inside

swapping my cable driven ralph nader cluster out for an 86 electric speedo 140mph reverse indiglo cluster, theres lotsa wiring involved but its pretty straight forward.

Ill write a tech article if im shown enough interest, either way ill keep you guys updated!

I actually want to do something simlar with my 84 Camaro, I want a 92 style Camaro dash and I have to convert the speedo too.

If you do this project, and write a tech article please post it here. Take lots of pictures too!!!

The part I'm not sure of is, Will the VSS just plug right into where my cable is connected to the tranny? What is all involved?

actually the tech article pete mentions is slightly different, ive got the gauges in now and there were a few more steps that need to be taken in a pre 86 car, especially wiring. It was difficult but its well worth it, all i have left is speedo stuff, ill get pics later.

What are you planning to do w/ the original gauges? (I have been looking for an 8k tach for my LG4 car...)

and installed

it all works minus the speedo which i have to finish wiring. The lighting at night is the best part and i cant wait to enjoy my speedo above 85mph. And i am writing a tech article on this.

TAdan, I'd also sell you a guage cluster out of an 84TA with an 8k tach if you don't get it from 300hpse. I'm doing an entire drivetrain swap from an 88 formula 350 so I have all of the stuff originally from the 84 available. I'm glad that mine will be plug and play since i'm swapping everything at once. best of luck with your swap.
I'm also going to be in rockland, ny (on the border of jersey) from christmas until new years so depending where in jersey you are shipping might not be required. PM or e-mail me if you're interested
