How much for rekeying?
Hey Bro's any of you ever have your car rekeyed? Door locks, trunk and ignition? if so how expensive is it?
Is there a way to reprogram the alarm system to a new code so the stolen controller no longer works?
Someone broke into my '89 Iroc stole my stereo and a few othe ritems as well as my extra pair of key's and alarm controller to my '98 Z28.
Any help would be appreciated.

You can get a new ignition lock for $35-40 and a new ignition key. Then you can bypass VATS and get rid of that crap (thats what I did). Contact the place where you bought/installed the alarm and they will help you with the reprogramming of it. As for new door keys, guess you'd have to do through GM and get new ones all around. Shouldn't be too expensive.

I'd imagine 4th gen parts are more expensive then third gen parts but i could get door, hatch and rear storage compartment lock cylinders for around $70 from classic industries. I never priced an ignition lock though.

Is classic industries online? I was just thinking about taking the locks of and taking them to a locsmith to change the tumblers in them. As far as the alarm goes it is a factory install and I guess I'll need to go to a dealer to see if they can reprogram it to a new signal. Is this what they would do record a new signal with a new transmitter?

Rekeying is much cheaper than replacing the complete locks. Found that out the hard way.
I think that if you take the entire car to the locksmith, they are able to do it w/o removing them from the car.

"that crap" is all that keeps anyone that knows how to steal a early 70s to late 90s GM from taking your car.
and believe me, because of its 30 year span, its up there as one of the most well known set of cars to steal...
it only takes 5 seconds to do this and start your car.
if you rekey it, or change the ign lock cyl, the key wont work, but the VATS remains..... athough if hes smart, he'll just bust the column and steal it with the stolen VATS key in.... but hed have to know to do that, and noone but him would have that key.
