Rear windshield wiper?
Did any of these vehicles have a rear windshield wiper stock? I have an 86 firebird and would like to be able to see out the back when raining.

Mine has one
I'm not sure what years they were avalible. Silly thing only works half the time, guess the contacts need to be cleaned.

My 85 IROC has one. The pic isn't too great, but you get the idea. While the wiper is a good idea in theory, in my opinion, it ruins the lines of the car, especially if the car is equipped the the spray nozzle at the back of the roof line--as mine does (you'll have to look closely).

According to the "White Book" these are the numbers for RPO C25 (Rear Window Wiper, With Washer):
1982 / 14,031
1983 / 10,900
1984 / 12,286
1985 / 7,367
1986 / 1,566
So some 46 thousand. I wouldn't call the RPO rare, I guess. Somewhat rare is RPO U35 (Clock, quartz on console):
1982 / 14,166
1983 / 1,992
1984 / 1,840
1985 / 809

I have a rear wiper on my 84 Trans Am but it came off of an 83 Trans am that was originally installed. as for it possibly being a rare option, IT DEF IS. I go to the Car Craft show plus other shows all summer long and I have only seen one other 3rd gen (a Firebird) that had one. I only kept the one I had b/c it was a rare option. mine did work at one time but not anymore, not making a connection somewhere. if you get one then you have to get the plastci molding that goes inside the hatch that mounts on the decklid, I have yet to find one so GOOD LUCK :-) anybody here have that molding for sale????????????
Yeah, I think alot of people like pew remove them in favor of the more stream lined look. There are a ton of older thirdgens around here, and inspite of the higher production numbers, I have yet to see one. Unless it's more of a regional thing where most ended up in the north or the south, instead of the middle by me

My Firebird had one. I ripped that sucker out the day I started doing the body work, I've replaced the rear deck with a another one from a Camaro, its much smoother. I also shaved the squirter above the hatch glass. I think its cool my car had the wiper originally, but its not cool enough to stay.
