I just drilled holes in the dash (after deciding where I wanted the pod.... centered above the console) and put screws threw the pod holes and into the dash. Been like that for several months and no problems. Although I had to grind off some bracketry stuffs on the back to make the "bar" on the pod sit flush with the dash.
Just have to finish the pod. Cover and put the "top" on it.

Well... its a cheap sunpro mech oil pressure gauge. Nothing too special, but I needed something quick (no time to order stuff) to read oil pressure. Realized mine was dead in the dash... it was nice to see it idle at 50psi and almost peg out the gauge at redline with the mech one though that's for sure
Eventually (this summer when I get home) Ill get a 100% black gauge instead of the silver ring one. I could care less if it's autometer/name brand, I just dont like the silver ring

The plate that the cig lighter and the gauge are on is made out of a piece of third gen console. So it "matches" the car. It wasnt crooked when I made the plate, but the hatch switch was there before I got the gauge. When I put the gauge in, I put the plate back on not even thinking.. and its ever so slightly crooked. Just gotta shave off some stuff behind it... no biggie.

awesome job buffing out the squares... i want to do the same thing in my bird. I hate to change the topic of the thread but it looks like you've answered the original question already so why not. Can you tell us how you went about buffing out the squares? did you sand it down and then buff it to make it shine?

I went really really out of order with the sand paper... but just get some really rough paper and start sanding away... do it way more than you think is enough. Then do it with finer and finer paper. Last sandpaper I used was wetsanding with 1500 I think. Then I used some 3M Finesse polish stuff with a buffer.
One reason I went so out of order on mine was the fact taht the squares would not go away. I ended going back to 400 and working my way back up quite a few times before the squares went away as much as they did. I think the squares might have been baked on or something too.... if you look at mine in direct sunlight and just right you can still see the squares just barely.... but just the color, no texture/raised parts. It's very odd. Can't see the squares at all in the car though.
