filling/fixing dash cracks

Ok, my interior is near perfect aside from one crack in the dash right above the radio, it's really not THAT big of a deal, but it bugs the hell out of me and was wondering if there was a way to fix it up some with the dash still in the car. It's really not worth it to me to take the whole dash out at this point. Any suggestions would be apreciated.

is it the dash pad or the dash itself ??

dash pad is easy to get out i think it is like 10 screws underneath and 4 on top near the defroster vents.

if it is the pad you could try a vynal repair kit, but it would probably look bad and wouldnt' last.

no, the pad is fine. It's the dash it self. directly above the radio.

hmm that is a tough spot. how big is it ?

i dont know how you would reapair it besides replacing it, but if you want to stop the crack from spreading, since it is plastic you can drill a small hole right at the end of it to keep the crack from getting any bigger

definately going to have to buy a whole new dash.....i'll sell you one. but honestly, i think the value of your car is going to drop soooo dramatically when people find out it's not a factory dash. honestly...this is a tough question, but i suppose my wife won't kill me for asking.

i'll offer you $350 for the car, since it's now totalled beyond repair and no one wants a car with a cracked dash.

oh by the way, HI smurfn

well, honestly I was woundering if there is some kind of filler epoxy or something along those lines that could help with out making it look worse.

yea sure....go to a hobby store and go into their plastic models section. there's some ABS glue in there that dries black....next buy that then sand it smooth when you're done, should work out great. otherwise honestly i'm putting in a 4th gen dash come april, so i'll sell you my non-screwed up one if you want.

well, the fact of the matter is i dont really want to dick around with removing a dash at the moment. it's a lot of work and a fairly small crack.

I got the same crack, but I have a mint dash sitting in the garage waiting to go in, with a 145 speedo.

i have an 85 Iroc that's MINT in the interior except for the same crack in my dash. i don't think that epoxying mine would work because the dash seems to almost move or something with temp changes. when it's really cold, the crack is together and you can hardly tell it's there and when it gets warm, the thing splits apart......

i just got a 90-92 dash and guage cluster. gonna swap that in.

i have the same exact crack also lol

i was thinking maybe finding the reason why its spread apart fixing that so the 2 pices of the crack are flush and some plastic filler and crazy glue!
