91-92 Z28 "Mystique"?

Maybe I'm the only one that sees this or maybe its because I've owned an 87 and a 92 Camaro....

There's something about the 91-92 Camaro's that I feel makes the car feel more modern.

Maybe its the GFX, maybe its the gauges, I'm not entirely sure.

I remember my 92 RS and while it wasn't perfect, it was certainly a nice ride. Full black interior was nice.

My '87 IROC feels like a hoopty sometimes. Yes, its older and has that disgusting red interior... or maybe its because its a crappier color.... whatever.

In your opinion, is there a quality about a 91-92 car you like more than the 82-89 cars? or vice versa?

I think the Z28s look longer with the gfx and the wing. The steering wheel with an airbag is more modern than the older ones too.

Whenever I sit in my 90 I feel like I'm in a newer car but whenever I sit in my '82 I feel like I'm in a much older car and I love it! Something about those 82-84 T/A's that I love.

Of course it looks and feels newer. It's actually 5 years newer.

92-87=5

By comparison, the 87 actually looks and feels "older".

Had the Iroc been an 86, it would be "6" years older.

Just kidding with you man! Seriously though, I don't think ANYONE disagrees with you.

I think it has to do with the airbag, the gauges, the rearview mirror (map lights), headlight ****, foglight switch, the hush panel, the face of the dash.....everything was made just a little different....and those little differences did alot....

Hey is the new headlight **** interchangable 90 and older? (or heck, is it even the same style?)

And I think I kinda like the 82-90 look, maybe a little better. It's more simplistic, like a "muscle" car should be, and I like putting a GT wheel in or something rather than that big airbagged wheel. However I did switch my hvac, and I may switch to the newer rear view. Any other simple "modernizing" mods?

There are just a few little differances, mainly being the ground effects, dash, hood, and wing that make it look so differant. I have a 91 RS, and a few people who were in it said that it really seemed like it was a new car but they couldn't figure out why. Personally I think those year z28's are the best looking thirdgens out there. I know of a mint one with a 5spd and 28k but he wans 8500 for it, wish I had that money.

I used to own a 84 Z28 HO until I wrecked it and now I own a 92 RS and yes....It feels newer and totally different.......It was a combination of everything.......It was the steering wheel that did it for me..........and the ground effects.........and the guages...........The softer ride at first made the car feel new but I want that rough ride back....My brother just got a 92 Z28 and I enjoy the rough ride.........At time though I like the soft ride of my 92 RS but you cant have both......I am rambling now but that is basically my 2 cents!!!!!!!

I guess I'll do what others have done and add the 91-92 GFX and try and get the interior as clean as possible. That hopefully will give the feel of a newer interior and total car.

Interior can get really expensive..........I dropped a ton of money on my 84 Z28 HO to make the interior look good..........It did make a huge difference though..................

well my age may be showing now,the first 3rd gen i had seen as a kid was the 82 pace car,it was instant love brand new (modern styling)my freinds sister had a new z it was awesome i liked them so much i new it would be my first car, then later the 85 iroc came out better looking, bigger gfx and this crazy looking intake the looked like it was speeding standing still, when the 91 came out i thought it was really cool with the awesome gfx and i already new about the hp from my 89 but that wing took a while to get used to,i figured chevy was cruzn the shelves of j.c.whitney but like everything else it grew on me as well as the T/A those ground afx and the wing :hail: :hail: it was definately a love of lasting attraction,i have built many for customers as well as myself i will always have one.personally i have always been a chevy guy but the ponchos have grown on me as well they seem to have a style that puts them in a class of their own.

I like the wing on the 91 92 Z28...........I also like the tradiational 3 piece spoiler......I thought about putting the wing on my RS but I will probably go with the one on Hawks just to be different plus it looks awsome. I have yet to see any good pics of it though...........

my 94 felt like a brand new car, when i got in this 91 i felt like i stepped back in time (well i did) and when i sit in a older one say 88, feels like i stepped really far back. I think the 91 feels newer because of the gauge cluster being together rather than split up by the plastic, and the air bag wheel. Wish they wouldnt got the idea that some people have to carry drinks in there car and had made cup holders.

What are you talking about "no cupholder"????? Mine has one.....the passenger! Reminds me of a game we used to play while cruising, get a friend in the car with a 20oz. drink, wait for the friend to go to take a drink and punch the gas! One nose full of soda and you will laugh your *** off , then you will be cursed out by said friend! Make it a habit every time that friend rides with you and the fun never ends!
