Stripped interior

Wondering if anyone has stripped their interior, and if they had pics? My '92 Formula is immobile for a while and if I get another car I may make her a serious project..........and start by stripping the interior. I'm already stripped one, but that was a friend's Nissan 240sx.

I'm curious to see how it'd look, and what the sound deadening material is made out of. The 240sx's s.d. material was baked on and required dry ice to get off (it was a pain in the a$$!!!!!!!!).

Thanks,
evan

Not very good pics but check on my homepage at Cardomain & look for the interior work page. Hope this helps

look at my cardomain site for more. Those patches of cloth is the only factory attachments of the padding, the padding is glued to the carpet though.

A couple pics at my CarDomain site as well. I'm in the process of grinding out sealer to weld all the body seams. A 4.5" anglegrinder with a wire cup makes pretty quick work of the sealer, but there's a TON of it in the car. I didn't originally plan to do this but when I got the carpet out and saw how few spot-welds actually held her together I decided she needed it.

I have no pics, but Ive stripped 2 Camaros front to rear every peice of plastic, carpet, seatbelts etc etc. I stripped my 83 from its nice cream color interior nasty! and stripped the 89 Iroc
and put all of its interior into my 83,came out real nice but was some work! This is the funny part....I had to go to a parts yard in N.H. to strip the Iroc and filled an "Escort"! with the interior and drive back to Maine I was embarrased as hell driving an Escort filled with the inside of another car all the way home..it was hanging out the trunk, windows etc.

LMAO I've had to do that, albeit not with a *two* full interiors

I may get to strip the interior, but for a different reason...I am now parting out the car, in light if a new project. 350 TPI Fiero maybe?

Parting everything except engine/transmission, and the parts that were damaged in the wreck (DR headlight and fender, bumper, etc.).

Look in the Classifieds section!

yeah I'll check it out

well I only had to actualy transport one full interior, the nasty cream color interior out of the 83 went straight to the dump!
I mean like Id be able to sell any of it anyway as ugly as it was...when I stripped the Iroc at that guys parts yard,he said you'll never fit that whole interior in that little escort with all the Camaro seats and platic and stuff....I said watch me,and when I was driving out everyone in his place was laughing there a$$ off...that made me feel pretty stupid but now its pretty funny I think I spent an hour and a half moving parts in the car so they would fit,but for 500. for everything I couldnt beat it,I mean most places sell just 2 buckt seats for that..and I mean I got my $$ worth :lala:

On the sound deadening subject, has anyone here ever put down a seroius amount of sound deadening material in their car??? I recently put some dynamat in my doors and a little bit on the front floorboards. I noticed a slight difference, and I'm tempted to strip out the interior and cover it in dynamat, but before I do I want to see if anyone has done this and how dramatic the difference was. Thanks......

I have not personally done the dynamat, but my friend installs customs stereos for a living and he swears by the stuff. He says it does make a difference as far as no noise getting out, but i'm not sure about quieting road noise. He also says that it traps heat inside, so if you have the heat on in the winter (if you live in a wintery climate), then it gets hot quick. Just my 2 cents.

mmm im too cheap id prob just run an extra layer of carpet that would kill just as much noise if not more then a layer of dynomat on the entire floor. plus its already cut to fit.
I did drive my car to town with no carpet and not interior plastic in it and man it was SOOO loud i heard every little pebble and bump the metal seemed to amplify the sound i felt like i was inside a big bell. If i was to majorly sound proff my car id run dynomat everywere but just extra layer of carpet for the floor.
That dynomat isnt cheap especially if your makeing a car out of it.

Yea, I put an entiire layer of sound deadning on my car. I didn't use dynomat though. I used peal n seal from lows its a roofing material but very simular to dynomat. I used a layer of fiberglass insulation under the seats, and foil bubber wrap stuff behind the rear seat. I also used expanding foam in between some panels. It made a big difference I still need to do the doors.
