Hood bird ?
Hey guys, question on your opinion.
I want to put a hood bird on my car, and i am trying to decide if i want to really do it. Its 150 bucks for a sticker
I like the style our firebird is, (the logo) but the sticker they offer is too small for my taste, seems puny compared to the 2nd gen ones... I thought about plutting in a second Gen one, becuase i thought they have always looked better. Now is this taboo or anything ? Should i do it ? Furthur thought, functional shaker for the hood as well
Shaker on a 305, woohoo! Anyhow, besides that, what do you guys think ? I have not seen a 3rd gen with a hood bird before, and what color should it be if the car is red ? Thanks!
Also, stole these from a website selling the decals, credit goes to them for the pictures... except were you can see my paint skillz. Wait, what about also, or not, they have a large rear window decal that is a firebird, doesn't say it, but its a big sticker, like the hood bird. I think its cool... Any thoughts?

Actually after looking at the picture for awhile, the second gen has only two feathers on the back of the head while the third gen has three. Does the fourth gen have four? Havent seen any logos that are obvious on the fourth gens, only one is on the back and thats pretty small. Plus the second gen looks alot better than the third gen. Better art work. The artist must have been lazy.

Hood Birds
Large hood birds like the ones pictured above were available on TransAms from 85-87.
The thirdgen style bird pictured above is not correct, notice the head is facing the wrong direction...that is how the seller gets around GM liscencing.
Try PhoenixGraphics or Stencils & Stipes for a correct (factory) repro 85-87 hood bird.

Probably a black bird on yours. I want a red one on mine with falmes coming off the wings. Anybody now someone who does custom jobs?

You want yours painted or a decal (Sticker) wich is what i belive they were originally. Or do you mean the flames for the custom job or the whole thing ???? I have seen decal kits where the wings turn into stripes and go along the side of the car

I dont really like the idea of stripes going down the side of the car, but the flames deffiently. Most likely a decal sticker. Which ever is cheaper.
I have a "screaming chicken" on the hood of my 83 Trans Am. If you do a search for "screaming chicken" there was a tread that had pictures of several third gens with the birds on the hood including mine.

well i know the red 2nd gens. came with black birds and they looked really good. i wish i could find it but it was a fourth gen that had the bird with flames comming from the wings and running down the side. it was really really nice.
rear window decal
i purchased a rear window decal for my 87 Formula. it looks great.
it is just the right size and the same color as my car. i got it off of a web site that i found through e-bay, it was called auto grahics or auto tech graphics or something like that, i'll have to recheck the name.
the decal was only $40.

Thats freakin awesome. You got a good deal. But look out, you get what you pay for. So if it starts to fade or break away dont be surprised. Whats that site autographics? I'll check it out. Thanks.

40 bucks for a sticker aint cheap.... i dont think it will fade..... Find me a more expensive sticker for the back window. I have seen some on other sites, i think it is a preety bad *** idea! I will probably do it when i have the money
rear window bird
i've had my rear window bird for almost 5 months. it matches my paint perfectly and looks great. it hasn't peeled or faded. the only bad thing is that it comes in 5 different peices. 1. tha tail 2.&3. the outter wings 4.&5. the body of the bird. i took my time putting it on, so be prepared for that. it adds a great finishing touch to any bird.

If you're still looking, here's a link I found tonight. It's not a sticker, though, it's a decal. But it's a very nicely-detailed one--and its price reflects that.

Cool, the link worked, lol. It's there in 5 different colors.

I have the bird on my back window and it matches the color of my car for $25 at a car show. I think it looks great and would recomend puting one on your car.
